BIG BELLY CONTAINERS
Residents and visitors of the Downtown Kersting
Court area will notice new trash receptacles have
been installed during the week of October 14th. The
new receptacles are manufactured by a com-pany
named Big Belly and include the latest solar-powered
compacting feature. The receptacles also are designed
to alert the Public Works Department when they are
nearing capacity, or if there are other issues that need
to be addressed.
The Big Belly's accept both standard trash and
recyclable items, which will be sorted at a material
recovery center maintained by Athens Services. The
compaction feature reduces refuse from spill-ing over
between collections, improving both the environmental
and aesthetic quality of the down-town area. For
more information please contact the Department of Public Works at 626-355-7135
