Nothing compares to the flavor of food that is grown in healthy
soil, without pesticides, and allowed to grow until just the right
time for harvesting. Square foot gardening uses only 20% of the
land space of a conventional garden and saves both water and
time. There is no tilling of the soil so anybody can do it. This
method will be fully explained so you may create your own square
foot garden, with lessons on setup, planting, watering, growing
vertically, pest control and harvesting.

FOUR TRIPLES TEAMS ONE WINS

The Santa Anita Bowling Green Club held their second
tournament of the New Year on Thursday the 3rd of February in
the Arcadia County Park in Arcadia. Another beautiful day for
bowling.

There were only four teams entered for this event. The format
was to play one game of 12 ends, have lunch and play the final game
of 12 ends to determine the winner. When all was done only one
team had won both games taking first place. That team was lead by
Margi Rambo, and the other two members Irene Brodie Mastro,
and Gene Plunkett.

Taking the second place was the team with Dick Ashmore as Skip,
Shuman Chan as his Vice Captain, and Sandy Dalzell (played one
game) and Marc Rich. The third place money went to Dewey Tse’s
team with bob Hauerwaas Vice, and Al McKeown Lead. The other
team had a bad day but enjoyed the contest. That team’s Captain
was Jim Miller with John Gonzalez and Juanita Jones in support.

The Santa Anita Club is looking for new members all the time.
If you think you would like to learn this sport give Gene Plunkett
a call at 626-351-5327 to find out about free lessons. If you have a
computer you can find our web site at: www.lawnbowling-arcadia.
com <http://www.lawnbowling-arcadia.com> . The rules for men
and women are the same and if you enjoy the outdoors, can walk
about half a mile and pick up and roll a 3 pound bowl, then come
on out and give it a try. Saturday mornings at 9 AM would be a
good time to drop by the club and see what it’s all about. The greens
are located at the Arcadia County Park on South Santa Anita Ave
in Arcadia, just south of Huntington Drive. It’s a sport that can last
you a lifetime. The club motto is: Lawn bowling is happy times
with good friends. Give it a try and play the best-kept secret in the
sporting world. See you on the greens.

HEART ATTACK RISKS WITH VASCULAR DISEASE

Arcadia Senior Services Division in partnership with
Methodist Hospital is having Scott Herman, MD Cardiologist
be the keynote speaker on Tuesday, February 22 at 1:30pm.

system. The vessels are elastic tubes that carry blood away
from the heart while the vein returns it.

Vascular disease includes diseases of the arteries and veins
and blood disorders that affect circulation. It is the leading
cause of heart attack and strokes. Dr. Herman will talk about
the risk factors, diagnosis and treatment options that are
currently available.

report. A laborer saw a male Hispanic suspect in
a coworker’s car and notified security. Racetrack
