LAWN BOWLING IN ARCADIA

By Joan Schmidt

Are you looking for a sport that is low-impact, low-cost with no age or skill requirement? If
so, lawn bowling may be for you. The American Heart Association has recommended lawn bowling
as a positive aid to maintaining a healthy heart.

Right here in Arcadia is the Santa Anita Bowling Green Club. It is located at 405 South Santa
Anita Avenue on the east side of Arcadia Park in Arcadia.

Just recently the Santa Anita Bowling Green Club of Arcadia hosted 400 lawn bowlers from
around the world during the Southwest Division Open, where top men and women bowlers from
all over the country competed. If that wasn’t enough, there were different food trucks available each
day during the tournament. They included Komodo, Flying Pig, Round Burger, No Tomatoes and
Slamminsliders!

This year, the Santa Anita Bowling Club is celebrating its 75th year in Arcadia! Not only does
the Club have some of the premier greens in the country, but It is only one of two clubs in the country
that has four greens! That is why it is such a popular site for tournaments! There are lights on two of
the greens. This permits us to play in the evening. Beginning this month, there is social bowling on
Tuesdays and Thursday evenings as well as Saturday morning.

To find out more about Santa Anita Lawn Bowling, please visit our website at: http.//www.
