10-year old Sierra Madre resident 
Miles Elliot is learning about show 
business the hard way.

Miles has joined an exclusive club 
whose members include Kevin 
Coster, Martin Sheen, and Gary Oldman, 
to name just a few.

As a young actor, Miles is accustomed 
to lots of work for often little reward. 
He understands that it's part of being 
a professional actor and he loves it. 
For The Amazing Spiderman, Miles 
auditioned for "Untitled Teen Action 
Film." He went to countless auditions 
and callbacks, and one day got the call 
that he had been cast as Billy Connors 
in The Amazing Spiderman! He studied 
and prepared for his all his scenes, 
went to costume fittings, filmed at 
three different locations mostly with 
his on-screen dad, Rhys Ifans (The 
Lizard) and has waited for over a 
year for the film to come out... only 
to learn last week from director Mark 
Webb that his storyline had been cut 
from the film. 

The young actor who's also appeared 
in Austin & Ally, The Mentalist and 
Gray's Anatomy, was very disappointed 
at first, but after Webb and 
his costars were complimentary about Miles' work, he realized that it's just part of an actor's life. Now, like a grizzled veteran, 
Miles he can count himself among actors who've suffered "the cut."

Miles goes to Sierra Madre K-8, he’s about to enter the Middle School. His parents are Larry and Tina Ogron.

Alas, the end has come as all things that are good must 
come to an end. This opportunity to write and be heard, 
whether by many or simply a few, has been a great honor 
and pleasure to me, and I hope to you, the reader, as well. 
This journey for me now closes, short and bittersweet. I wish

NEW SCHOOL TB 

SCREENING POLICY EFFECTIVE 
JULY 1, 2012

PASADENA, Calif.—Effective July 1, 2012, the Los Angeles 
County Department of Public Health is replacing the current 
universal testing policy with a universal screening targeted 
testing policy for new students entering Kindergarten 
through the 12th Grade for the first time.

The new policy recommends only testing students who are 
at elevated risk for tuberculosis (TB). The revised County 
health policy aligns with the recommendations from the 
Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of 
Pediatrics.

Health providers, as part of their routine health assessment, 
will screen students and test them for TB only if a risk factor 
is present.
