All Saints Concert at LCPC The La Canada Presbyterian Church’s Chancel Choir and Orchestra will perform an All Saints’ Concert on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m., recognizing loved ones – saints – who have left this world. Directed by Jack Lantz and featuring soprano Rebecca Sjowall and bass Gregory Geiger, the concert will feature beautiful music written for chorus and orchestra. The program will include three familiar works by French composer Gabriel Faure, including his lyrical “Pavane,” as well as “Cantique de Jean Racine” and the masterful “Requiem, Opus 48, in D Minor.” “These works have become Faure’s most famous and are much loved by audiences worldwide,” Lantz said. “In fact, it would be difficult to find three more lyrically lush works by any composer. The concert will also include such hymns as “For All the Saints” and “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and will feature readings from early-17th-century poet John Donne as well as a photo tribute to recently deceased LCPC members. The music will be further accompanied by a slideshow of famous cathedrals around the world. Admission is free, although a $15 donation is requested.
