EDUCATION & YOUTH

Mountain Views-News Saturday, March 5, 2016

By Joan Schmidt

On a recent Sunday afternoon, the Eagle Scout Court of Honor
was held at Annunciation Church Hall, Arcadia, for twin brothers,
Robert and Paul Drust from Annunciation Scout Troop #140.

These fine boys are graduates of Annunciation School, and
currently are in their Senior Year at Bishop Amat High School, so it
was only fitting that their former Annunciation teachers, Mrs. Howe,
Mrs. Raylon and Mrs. Clayton attended the festivities.

Master of Ceremonies was Troop Leader David Bond, and David
Maynard, Eagle Scout Coordinator was among the speakers. The
steps to Eagle Scout were explained. There are many badges required
and a special community project which requires detailed planning
and assistance by fellow troop members. Robert’s was Garden
Beautification at the Arboretum and Paul’s was Tree Preservation at
the Arboretum.

The boys thanked their parents for their support all these years,
adults of Troop #140 for keeping the troop going –Mr. Bond,
Richardson and especially Mr. Mike Taylor a great mentor. (Several
years ago, the troop was down to just 2 members-the Drust Boys.
But a school, St. Monica’s was considering the use of Annunciation
Classrooms. St. Monica’s came on a day when ministries were
represented and were so impressed with troop #140 that several
boys joined it, although they came from Pasadena and farther away!
Currently Troop # 140 has 25 members, and now the Drusts are
mentors to younger boys.) It was truly an honor to witness such an
occasion. Congratulations, Robert and Paul.
