SIERRA MADRE POLICE BLOTTER

During this time period, the Sierra Madre Police Department 
responded to approximately 219 day and night time calls for service. 

Tuesday, November 15 

 At about 1:23 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Orange 
Grove Ave. and Baldwin Ave. to follow up on a report of a suspected 
DUI driver. SMPD officers located the vehicle and conducted 
a traffic stop in the 300 block Cliff Drive in the city of Pasadena. 
While speaking with driver, it was determined that the driver 
had prior arrests for possession and being under the influence of 
methamphetamine. Drug paraphernalia was located in a door panel 
and the driver and one passenger were issued citations. 

 Case referred to Pasadena DA’s office for filing considerations. 

Thursday, November 17 

 Officers responded to the station lobby at about 2:06 p.m. on a 
late reported collision between his parked vehicle in the 600 block 
of Brookside Lane and a delivery truck. The driver of the truck left 
the scene prior to exchanging information with the vehicles owner. 
The victim was able to provide the license number of the truck and a 
description of the driver. The investigation is still active. 

 Case to Detectives. 

Friday, November 18 

 A pool repairman found broken rear window at a residence in the 
600 block of Camillo Rd. at about 7:01 a.m. The second floor, glass 
French doors had been smashed allowing suspect(s) to gain entry. 
Information provided by a responsible party could not aid officers in 
determining what was stolen from the home. 

 Case to Detectives 

Saturday, November 19 

 A resident from the 100 block S. Lima St. came to the SMPD lobby 
to report that he found several pieces of mail in his trash cans at 
about 7:00 p.m. on 11/18/16. The mail was addressed to residents in 
the 100 - 200 blocks of Jameson Ct. and the 400 block of W. Highland 
Ave. The resident has no idea how his mail ended up in the trash bin 
at that location. The investigation is still on-going. 

Saturday, November 20 

 At about 10:22 a.m. officers responded to a call of a disturbance in 
the 100 block of E. Highland Ave. Officers determined that a physical 
altercation had occurred between a couple. The primary aggressor 
was arrested and transported to Pasadena Police Dept, jail.

Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for 
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs 
will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and 
can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens

The City of Sierra Madre Community Services Commission 
has added the Field Use Agreement to the agenda of their next 
regular meeting on Monday, November 21 at 6:30 PM in the 
City Hall Council Chambers. 

 The Field Use Agreement is an agreement between the 
City and various youth Sports Groups which prescribe access 
and use of sports fields. At this meeting you will have the 
opportunity to provide comment during the public comment 
period. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. 

 If you cannot attend the meeting but would still like to voice 
your opinions of support or concern, you may email your 
comments to Rebecca Silva, Community Services Supervisor

Description

 Under direct supervision, maintain street rights-of-way and 
sanitary sewer system, including construction work in the general 
areas of sidewalks, curbs, gutters, water systems, sewer systems, 
streets and traffic signage maintenance. Performs right-of-way 
landscape maintenance, operates light power quipment, assists in the 
reapir of the maintenance of tools and equipment.
