The Scott Pavilion will be decorated to commemorate the Chinese Lunar New Year and a centuries-old lion dance will be performed. Music, dancing and lunch will round out the event. The cost is only $6 for members and $8 for non-members of the Pasadena Senior Center. Tickets are available at the Welcome Desk. Rotary Club Seeking Grants Applications The Rotary Club of Pasadena Grants Committee seek grant applications from nonprofit organizations serving Pasadena homeless through food and nutrition, employment or training programs as well as community engagement programs in arts and culture. All qualifying non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations must serve clients within the boundaries of the City of Pasadena. The grants guidelines and application are on-line at www. pasadenarotary.com under Forms & Docs. Deadline for submission is 5 p.m. on February 10th in the P.O. Box for Pasadena Rotary at 556 S. Humane Society Animal Adventurers Kid’s Programs South Pasadena Library to Hold Author/Film Night An Author/Film Night with Matthew Arkin will be presented in the Library Community Room on Thursday, January 26 at 7 p.m. It will feature a presentation by author and actor Matthew Arkin and a screening of the classic thriller “Wait Until Dark” (1967) with Audrey Hepburn in one of her most iconic roles, for which she received an Oscar nomination. The film also features Alan Arkin, Matthew’s father, in perhaps his most unforgettable role as the ruthless Roat. Other outstanding cast members include Richard Crenna, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., and Jack Weston. When the film was first shown in theatres, all the house lights were turned off for the climactic, seat-gripping final scene. The event is presented by the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library and the South Pasadena Public Library. The Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street. Is your child ready to become an Animal Adventurer? Pasadena Humane Society now offers monthly programs for children to learn about animals in a fun and safe environment. From basic animal care for common household pets to exploring careers with animals, our Animal Adventurers program will provide your child with a hands-on learning experience followed by a fun craft to take home. Animal Adventurers will be held on the 4th Saturday of each month from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Pasadena Humane Society Classroom. Program fee is $20 per child and includes all materials. Children ages 8 to 12 are invited to join us January 28 for Do You Want to Be a Veterinarian?, a hands-on introduction to working as a veterinarian or vet tech. After a tour of the shelter clinic, your child will observe a routine animal health check with a registered veterinary technician followed by a Q&A.
