Breast Cancer Awareness

communities in Pasadena, particularly the female artists who lived 
here or were inspired by the area to create their art. The tour will 
be followed by a visit to the Pasadena Museum of California Art 
to view “E. Charlton Fortune: The Colorful Spirit,” an exhibition 
about the trailblazing California impressionist whose works made 
her well-known in 20th century art circles.

 New Year’s Day in Pasadena: A Look Inside the Rose Parade and 
Rose Bowl Game – Friday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. Pasadena is best 
known worldwide as the home of the annual Rose Parade and 
Rose Bowl Game. This virtual tour will provide a brief overview 
of the parade and its history as well as a look into some of the 
lesser known stories about New Year’s Day in Pasadena and how 
it shaped the city and its people. The tour will be followed by a 
visit to the Pasadena Museum of History to view the exhibition 
“Royals of Pasadena: Rose Queen and Royal Court.”

 The Effect of the Transcontinental Railroad on Pasadena 
Homes – Friday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. Much of the stained glass in 
historic Pasadena homes was designed and created at the Tiffany 
Studios in New York and then transported to the west coast on 
the transcontinental railroad. This virtual tour will take a look 
at decorative arts in Pasadena in the late 19th and early 20th 
centuries and how the railroad and other forms of transportation 
during that period helped shape the landscape and connect early 
Pasadenans to the rest of the world. The tour will be followed by 
a visit to the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical 
Gardens to view the exhibition “Tiffany Favrile Glass.”

 Julia Long, founder and tour guide for Pasadena Walking Tours, 
will lead members of the Pasadena Senior Center on virtual 
strolls through Pasadena’s history the third Fridays in November, 
December and January. 
Each month will feature a new theme as Long uses photographs 
and stories to enhance the virtual tour, followed by an actual tour 
of a well-known local institution. The cost for each virtual tour is 
only $10. Reservations can be made at the Welcome Desk at the 
Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly St. Members are responsible 
for paying entry fees to museums.
