PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial. Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. Your event must: • Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity • Be open to the public • Be of general interest to local citizens Just write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com. Monday, June 25 At about 8:30PM, officers responded to a call of a burglary that had occurred at a residence in the 600 block of Elm St. The suspect(s) entered the residence through a window and ransacked the home and stole unknown item(s). Case to Detectives Tuesday, June 26, Officers responded to the 00 block of E. Mira Monte Ave. in regards to a theft investigation. The resident stated that he left his garage door open overnight. The resident noticed a 3 gallon air compressor and a mountain bike were missing from the garage. Case to Detectives Thursday, June 28 A victim of a scam came to the Sierra Madre Police Department lobby to report she went on a puppy web site and purchased gift cards worth $1,500.00. The victim wired $620.00 in a money gram to the address provided by the subject. The reporting party also took photographs of the back of the gift cards with code exposed and sent a text to the subject. The reporting party later discovered that it was a scam. Case to Detectives Friday, June 29 A traffic stop of a vehicle at about 3:42PM occurred on Santa Anita Cyn Rd. where the driver of the vehicle was found to be driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and later transported to the Pasadena Jail where he was later released on a citation. Case to Detectives Sierra Madre Woman’s Club 550 W. Here’s something new to try! The Sierra Madre Historical Preservation Society is holding a whiskey tasting on Saturday, July 14th at 5:00 p.m. at the Hart Park House in Memorial Park. Local Sommelier Russ Meek joins guest stars from the whiskey Industry to lead you on a world tour through the historic and diverse styles of this popular spirit. A formal presentation will be given covering the three regions of old Scotland, the “naked grain” expressions of Ireland, America’s full-bodied Bourbons & Ryes, and striking examples from Asia. There will be music of the British Isles and plenty of hors d’oeuvres, as well as a silent auction. This unique evening is a fundraiser for the restoration of our museums up on Mira Monte.
