ARCADIA PUBLIC LIBRARY ACCEPTS PASSPORT 
APPLICATIONS

ARCADIA POLICE BLOTTER

For the period of Sunday, November 25th, through Saturday, 
December 1st, the Police Department responded to 868 calls 
for service, of which 139 required formal investigations. 
The following is a summary report of the major incidents 
handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, November 25:

 Shortly before 2:06 a.m., an officer responded to the 
11700 block of Clark Street regarding a vehicle burglary 
report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect broke 
the passenger window of the vehicle and stole prescription 
medication, cologne, amps and charging cords. No 
suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. 

 At approximately 10:21 a.m., an officer responded to 
Holy Angels Church, 370 Campus Drive, regarding a theft 
report. An investigation revealed an estranged brother 
stole his deceased mother’s ashes and urn during her 
funeral service. The 65-year-old male from Cabazon is 
outstanding at the time of this report. 

Monday, November 26:

 Just after 1:23 p.m., an officer responded to a residence 
in the 400 block of Los Altos Avenue regarding a grand 
theft report. Sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 
p.m. on November 26th, an unidentified suspect stole 
the victim’s package from their front porch containing 
designer earphones. No suspects were seen and no 
witnesses were located. 

 At approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to 
Vons, 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding a petty theft 
report. Loss prevention employees witnessed the suspect, 
a 70-year-old male from Temple City, load his cart with 
$158.00 worth of liquor and groceries before he exited the 
store, failing to make payment. He was cited in the field 
due to health issues. 

Tuesday, November 27:

 Around 12:33 a.m., officers conducted an enforcement 
stop on a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and 
Huntington Drive for running a red light. A short 
pursuit ensued and additional Arcadia PD officers 
offered assistance. The vehicle pulled over and upon 
contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor 
of alcohol emitting from his breath. Through a series of 
tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with 
a blood alcohol content of 0.137%. He was arrested and 
transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 
Just before 10:03 a.m., officers responded to a residence 
in the 200 block of East Camino Real Avenue regarding a 
burglary report. The resident witnessed a male suspect in 
her guest house and backyard. After yelling at the suspect 
to leave, he fled in a newer black sedan. 

 The suspect is described as a black male, tall and thin, 
wearing a light grey hooded sweatshirt. The investigation 
is ongoing. 

Wednesday, November 28: 
At about 5:59 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s, 400 
South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. A 
loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect conceal 
$173.00 worth of merchandise in his shopping bags before 
exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 18-year-
old male from Monrovia was arrested and transported to 
the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

 Shortly after 6:23 p.m., an officer responded to the 
00 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a vehicle 
burglary report. The victim discovered an unknown 
suspect had smashed one of the windows and stolen her 
wallet and credit cards sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 
6:23 p.m. A short time later, Pasadena Police Department 
identified the suspect from the stolen property and 
arrested the 23-year-old male from South El Monte. 

Thursday, November 29: 
Before 9:57 a.m., an officer responded to a residence 
in the 00 block of West Camino Real Avenue regarding 
a residential burglary report. The suspect, an adult 
male who resides in the area, was seen walking onto a 
neighbor’s property. During a residence check, officers 
discovered the rear door had been forced open and 
there was evidence that someone had been living in 
the home without the owner’s permission. The suspect 
was identified as a 62-year-old male neighbor from 
Arcadia. The suspect is outstanding at the time of this 
report. 

 Around 10:58 a.m., an officer responded to a residence 
in the 1100 block of Valencia Way regarding a theft report. 
Surveillance footage captured a male suspect steal the 
victim’s package from their porch. Officers conducted 
an area check and located the suspect’s 2018 red SUV 
and located the suspect. Upon contacting the suspect 
and accomplice, the officers discovered they were in 
possession of the victim’s stolen package, property, and 
drugs. A 26-year-old female from Sylmar and a 30-year-
old male from El Monte were arrested and transported 
to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The male suspect 
was also charged with providing false information to an 
officer in an attempt to conceal his identity and for an 
outstanding felony warrant. 

Friday, November 30: 

 At about 11:38 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia 
Congregational Church, 2607 South Santa Anita 
Avenue, regarding a burglary report. The reporting party 
discovered an unknown suspect stole a power washer 
from a locked garage sometime between November 
17th and November 30th. No suspects were seen and no 
witnesses were located. 

 Just before 4:21 p.m., an officer responded to a residence 
in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a 
burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown 
suspect(s) pried open a rear door and stole a safe from the 
master bedroom. The loss is unknown at this time and the 
investigation is ongoing. 

Saturday, December 1:

 Shortly after 10:51 a.m., officers responded to the 
area of 129 South First Avenue regarding two subjects 
drinking an alcoholic beverage in front of the location. 
Upon contacting the subjects, the 30-year-old male 
became combative, resisted arrest, and assaulted one of 
the officers by spitting on him. During a search of the 
arrestee, officers discovered he was in possession of a 
controlled substance and a smoking pipe. A records 
check revealed the other suspect, a 45-year-old male 
from Victorville, had two outstanding misdemeanor 
warrants. Both were arrested and transported to the 
Arcadia City Jail for booking.

 At approximately 12:29 p.m., officers responded 
to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, 
regarding the activation of an Arcadia Police Department 
GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously 
deployed decoy bicycles with tracking devices to combat 
the increase in bike thefts throughout the city. An 
investigation revealed a 30-year-old male from Pasadena 
was in possession of the stolen bicycle, the GPS tracker, a 
second stolen bicycle, and was in possession of burglary 
tools, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and forged 
currency. The suspect was arrested and transported to the 
Arcadia City Jail for booking.

CITY OF MONROVIA PRESENTS THE 

2018 SANTA TOURS

Monrovia, CA - This year marks the 20th year of the 
city’s long tradition of celebrating the holiday season 
by touring Santa Claus around city streets on top of a 
fire engine. Escorted by a police car and a decorated 
public works sleigh, Santa will give candy canes to the 
public in the spirit of giving. City employees will be 
volunteering their time to help make the program fun 
and successful for all Monrovians and visitors in our 
premier city. 

Last year’s event was a great success! This year’s Santa 
Tour will be another exciting and fun time for members 
of our community when they see Santa visiting their 
neighborhoods. Everyone is encouraged to come out and 
wave to Santa. The route dates are as follows:

· Monday, December 17, 2018 – will tour city streets east 
of Myrtle, north of Foothill. 

· Tuesday, December 18, 2018 – will tour city streets west 
of Myrtle, north of Foothill. 

· Wednesday, December 19, 2018 –will tour city streets 
east of Myrtle, south of Foothill, north of Duarte Road, 
west of east city boundaries. 

· Thursday, December 20, 2018 – will tour city streets 
west of Myrtle, south of Foothill to Huntington between 
Myrtle and Fifth. 

· Friday, December 21, 2018 – will tour city streets south 
of Huntington, west of Myrtle to Fifth, north of the 
southern city boundaries. Includes Valley Circle. 

Assembly Time – 5:00 p.m. assemble at the City Hall 
parking lot, 415 S. Ivy, Monrovia, CA 91016

Sleigh Departure Time and Tour Hours – 5:30 p.m. to 
9:30 p.m.

 The police car will be driven by police officers who 
are volunteering their time. The police car will lead the 
procession using its red lights and siren. Holiday carols 
will be played over the police car’s P.A. system. 

 The fire engine will be driven by firefighters who are 
volunteering their time. The fire engine will follow the 
police car. Santa will ride on top of the fire engine with 
spotlights shining on him as he wishes everyone a merry 
Christmas and happy holidays. The fire engine will be 
decorated with hundreds of lights. 

 The public works truck will be driven by public works 
employees who are volunteering their time. Our reindeer 
sleigh, bright with over 1500 lights, will also be playing 
holiday carols. Community members are welcome to ride 
with city employees and their families in the sleigh during 
the tour. Space is limited and participation is first come 
first served. Parents are reminded that children must be 
accompanied by an adult, and you must bring appropriate 
warm clothing for cold weather and umbrellas for possible 
rain, as the sleigh is open air. 

 Venture outside, welcome Santa and enjoy the candy 
canes! HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all and may you all have a 
safe holiday season.

handled 382 service events, resulting in 94 investigations.

Battery

November 29 at 7:16 a.m., a caller reported a family 
disturbance at a residence in the 600 block of E. Colorado. 
Officers arrived and located the involved parties. 
An investigation revealed a mutual combat between family 
members. One half desired prosecution and the other 
half refused prosecution. This case will be forwarded to 
the District Attorney’s Office for filing considerations.

Warrant – Suspects arrested

November 30, at 3:24 a.m., a resident in the in the 100 
block of Hidden Valley reported a suspicious vehicle in 
the area, occupied by three subjects. The resident asked 
the subjects what they were doing. They stated they were 
looking for recyclables and then sped off in the vehicle. 
Officers located the vehicle in the area and stopped it. 
Two of the occupants had outstanding warrants for their 
arrest. The two subjects were arrested and transported to 
the Monrovia Police Jail.

Vehicle vs. Pedestrian

November 30 at 6:56 a.m., a vehicle struck a pedestrian 
who was walking in a designated crosswalk in the 300 
block of E. Foothill. Paramedics arrived and treated the 
injured party for non-life-threatening injuries. Officers 
arrived and spoke with all involved parties. The investigation 
is continuing.

Attempt Burglary

November 30 at 8:16 a.m., an attempt burglary was reported 
at the cabin inside Canyon Park. Officers arrived, 
conducted an investigation and found evidence of forced 
entry. A window sill on the north side of the cabin had 
pry marks and the window was partially open. Nothing 
was missing from inside the cabin. The investigation is 
continuing.

Grand Theft Auto

November 30 at 8:53 a.m., a victim called to report 
his vehicle had been stolen from the driveway of his residence 
in the 400 block of S. Bradbury. He parked his vehicle 
the evening prior. Investigation continuing.

Petty Theft

November 30 at 12:50 p.m., a resident in the 500 block 
of W. Chestnut walked outside and saw his unlocked vehicle 
had been ransacked and several items were missing. 
This incident occurred sometime between 11/29/18 
at 4:30 p.m. and 11/30/18 at 12:50 p.m. The investigation 
is continuing.

Petty Theft

November 30 at 2:03 p.m., an employee of a business 
in the 100 block of E. Foothill called to report a theft of 
four salon chairs from an unsecured patio area of her 
salon. The chairs were used and stored on the patio. Officers 
arrived and spoke with the employee. Investigation 
continuing.
