The Sierra Madre Public Library is honored
to present this years’ One Book One City
line up, featuring A Walk in the Woods by
Bill Bryson. This community reading program
invites everyone in Sierra Madre to
read and discuss the same book during February
2021 and participate in exciting and
socially distant programs and events.
On Tuesday, February 2, join Dr. Bill White
and Pete Siberell for a virtual presentation
on the History of the Mount Wilson Trail
Race, and enjoy a Facebook Live event on
Saturday February 6 at 11:00 am to learn
about the Mt. Wilson Trail Race. Other
family events will include a community
scavenger hunt with prizes, Storytime with
Librarian Leila and much more.
Bill Bryson introduces the reader to the history
and ecology of the Appalachian Trail
and to the myriad of interesting people
and experiences he has during his personal
journey along the trail. Entertaining and
captivating, Bryson delivers the majesty
of the mountains, forests and lakes with
breathtaking imagery. A Walk in the Woods
brings the splendor of the outdoors right to
you and may just inspire you to begin your
own journey.

January 17 to January 23, 2021 During this period the
Sierra Madre Police Department responded to 317 calls
for service.
Possession
On 1-20-21 at 1:01AM, officers stopped a vehicle for a vehicle
code violation in the 300 block of W. Sierra Madre Bl. Following
a field interview and consented vehicle search, the subjects were found to be in the possession
of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Both were cited. The vehicle was impounded.
Case to DA’s office for filing
Warrant Arrest
A driver was arrested following a stop for a vehicle code violation, at Sierra
Madre Bl. and Michillinda Ave. on 1-21-21 at 12:30AM. The driver
was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding arrest
warrant out of a neighboring city. The driver was taken to jail for booking.
Case to DA’s office for filing
Stolen Vehicle
Officers responded to the 600 block of Michillinda Ave., for the report of a stolen
vehicle. Sometime between 1-20-21 at 10:00PM and 1-21-21 at 7:00AM an
unknown person(s) took the vehicle from the victims garage without the owner’s
consent. Officers were able to track the vehicle and locate it in a neighboring
city. The owner was contacted and the vehicle was returned the same day.
