DUARTE 66ERS SENIOR SOFTBALL TEAM TO CELEBRATE
OPENING DAY ON JUNE 17
Come cheer on Duarte’s very own senior softball team, the Duarte 66ers, for the season’s opening day on
June 17 as they play the Diamond Bar Diamonds at Otis Gordon Sports Park (2340 Central Ave).
The festivities will begin with an opening ceremony introducing players. Additionally, former Duarte
AmeriCorps Fellow Diana Perez will sing the National Anthem with Duarte Councilmember Jody Schulz
throwing out the first pitch at 9 AM to commence the games, which will meet all Los Angeles CountyDepartment of Public Health (DPH) guidelines.
“We are excited to safely bring back recreational opportunities for our seniors, starting with the Duarte
66ers,” Councilmember Jody Schulz stated. “We wish the Duarte 66ers the best of luck in their upcoming
season.”
The Duarte 66ers, named to honor the historic Route 66, are part of the Intercity Senior Co-Ed Softball
League of Southern California, which is open to men and women 50 years of age and older. About 200
players make up 10 League teams, representing Commerce, Diamond Bar, Duarte, Pasadena/Arcadia,
