PUSD COVID 19 UPDATE
From PUSD Superintendent Brian McDonald:
SCHOOL DIRECTORY
Today’s (August 23, 2021) COVID-19 Dashboard has been posted and reflects the total number
of confirmed cases and students and staff placed in quarantine since August 1, 2021 and since the
last update on August 19, 2021.
Since August 1, 2021:
Total number of confirmed student cases: 25
Total number of confirmed staff cases: 10
The total number of students and staff in quarantine is 344, reflecting unvaccinated 7th-grade
students and a group of 10th-grade students at Marshall, and a group of students at Longfellow
Elementary.
The rise in quarantine numbers is due to our aggressive action to quarantine unvaccinated 7thgrade
students and prevent the spread of the virus at Marshall when two confirmed cases were
linked.
Schools are the fabric of our society and when there is an increase in the rate of COVID-19 cases
in the community, it is reflected on our campuses.
We have taken immediate steps to further bolster our District’s strong COVID-19 Safety Plan
Adding three health personnel to every elementary site for weekly testing
All students will be tested with parent consent
Requiring at-risk students groups in grades 6-12 (athletes, band, ROTC) to get tested weekly
Implementing the State public health order and requiring employees to show proof of vaccination
or take weekly tests
Masks, ventilation, handwashing, limiting visitors on campus, cleaning and disinfection
Recommendation to the Board of Education that students eligible for the vaccine show proof of
vaccination or take a weekly test
Our hard-working health team and school-site staff are collaborating with local health professionals
to ensure that we are taking the best approach to keep our students and staff safe.
LA SALLE APPOINTS NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
La Salle College Preparatory announced the selection of Mr.
Brandon P. Lincoln as the school’s new athletic director, effective
August 1, 2021. Lincoln currently serves as Athletic Director and
Head Boys Basketball Coach for Providence High School in Los
Angeles.
He earned both his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science
and Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership
from the University of Oregon.
Lincoln’s appointment as La Salle’s athletic director comes after
a thorough search, which included input and perspectives from
staff, faculty and coaches. Prior to his work at Providence High
School, Lincoln served as an assistant coach for Montana State’s
Men’s Basketball team from 2014 to 2017. Mr. Lincoln also served
on the athletic staff at the University of Oregon and Miami Uni
versity (Ohio). In addition to his professional staff career, Mr.
Lincoln was a stand-out basketball athlete at the high school, collegiate and professional levels,
playing for the University of Oregon and continuing his career with the ETB Wohnbau Baskets
in Essen, Germany.
“In selecting Brandon to be our next athletic director, we’ll be adding a member to our leadership
team with an extensive background in athletics, which includes his experience as a player,
coach, and administrator,” said Jamal Adams, La Salle College Preparatory’s principal. “He will
be a great addition to our school and administrative team because of his professional-ism, poise,
and innovative spirit,” he added.
Serving as athletic director, Lincoln will be responsible for over-seeing over 100 coaches, 24
athletic teams and programs, and over 350 well-rounded student-athletes that excel both in and
out of the classroom. Most recently, La Salle’s Girls Tennis Team secured the 2021 CIF-SS Division
5 Championship title, the Girls Water Polo Team captured the 2020 CIF-SS Division 7
Championship title and the school’s Girls Soccer Team took home the 2019 CIF-SS Division 4
Championship title.
“I am honored and excited to join the community at La Salle College Preparatory,” said Lincoln.
“I’m looking forward to growing La Salle’s athletic program, while also remaining rooted in the
school’s mission and founding values and principles,” added Lincoln.
