May 5, 2022 – Sierra Madre Girls Softball Association’s Spring Season ended with exciting championship
games and a closing ceremony on Sunday, May 1, celebrating three months of skills development, competition,
friendship and fun. Our youngest players in the 6U division received special recognition at the start of
their softball journey and the winning teams of each division in the Tournament from 8U to 14U received
special softball champion rings.

As we head into summer, selected players on SMGSA All Stars Teams will represent Sierra Madre in competitive
USA Softball All Stars Tournaments across Southern California. And at the peak of the summer in
mid-July, we will open registration for the Fall 2022 season at smgsa.org, preparing for tryouts and practices
in late August.

Highlights from our Spring 2022 Tournament Championship Games include:

Danger Zone 5 vs. Red Hot Chili Peppers 1

Two pitching aces, Carly and Raqui, faced off in the 10U
Championship game going six innings with NO WALKS!
Only after a fiercely contested battle did Danger Zone
emerge victorious. Congratulations to both teams on an ex-

Caution 8 vs. Cobra Kai 3

The 12U Division Championship game was hard fought by
both sides, but Team Caution ultimately went home with
the gold rings. #15 Laila Melendez from Team Caution hit
an RBI triple bringing in Havan Pagan and Aubrey Myers,
capping off their victory. Congratulations to Team Caution:
Abby, Alice, Aubrey, Camila, Emily, Havana, Jase, Jai, Laila,
Leighton, Melody, Natasha!

Troy L. has been working hard all season,
giving it his best effort day in and day out.
He has done a great job learning all of the
positions in the infield and doing a great
job of learning the fundamentals of hit-
ting. Always has a great attitude!
AA SM A'S.
Francisco G. had an amazing
week as one of the A’s pitchers
who helped his team come up
with a victory against another
great Madre team. His pitching
has been instrumental for the A’s,
but his work on the field must also
be acknowledged. He made awe-
some plays at first and short stop
and is an all around great player
and leader for the A’s.
AA ROYALS

Jack C. has been working hard on and
off the field to improve his game. It
has been tough being the youngest
player on his team and the coach’s
son, but Jack has shown such improvement
with his baseball skills
and leadership. He is one of the top
hitters, leads the team in RBI’s, and is
reliable in any position he is put in.

CHALLENGER

program for over 7 years and is a senior
