MOUNT WILSON TRAIL RACE & PASTA DINNER
RETURN NEXT WEEKEND
The 2023 Mt. Wilson Trail Race (MWTR) festivities
return next weekend beginning with the
Pre-Race Pasta Dinner on Friday, May 26, 2023,
from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., the MWTR on Saturday,
May 27, 2023, starting at 7:30 a.m., and the Kids’
Fun Run starting at 7:45 a.m. All events take
place in Kersting Court and everyone is welcome
to attend.
This year, “The Singing Policeman” Daniel Rodriguez
will sing the National Anthem. The
MWTR will be started by the family of the late
Mt. Wilson Trail Historian Dr. John White, his
wife Patti, son Greg, and grandchildren Jack,
Lacey, & Madison.
Registration for the 2023 Mt. Wilson Trail Race
is still open and costs $75 for Adults (ages 18 and
above) and $42 for Youth (ages 14 – 17). All paid
entries receive a t-shirt and custom designed
MWTR goodie bag. To register, go to the Mt.

The public is cordially invited to the MWTR
Pre-Race Stone Fire Grill Pasta Dinner on Friday,
May 26, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.,
in Kersting Court. The cost is $10.00 per person,
with proceeds supporting Sierra Madre Search &
Rescue. There will also be a Pasta Dinner Beer
Garden at which adults ages 21 and above can
drink the “2023 Mt Wilson Trail Race Kölsch”,
a limited release beer made especially for this
year’s MWTR by RT Rogers Brewing Company
of Sierra Madre. Pasta Dinner beer sales will support
the Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund. This
is an opportunity to have great food and meet
and greet your neighbors and fellow racers ahead
of the race. MWTR packet pickup (race number,
t-shirt, and goodie bag) will also be available at
the Friday night pre-race pasta dinner.
Registration for the Kids’ Fun Run (ages 3 – 13) is
FREE and will take place on the morning of the
MWTR. All children participating receive a t-
shirt and finisher’s ribbon. Immediately following
the start of the 2023 MWTR, the Kids’ Fun
Run will begin in Kersting Court at 7:45 a.m.
The start of the Kids’ Fun Run is staggered, with
children ages 8 – 13 beginning first and then
followed by children ages 3 – 7. Kids’ Fun Run
participants run up Baldwin Ave. and back to
Kersting Court. The total distances are 1.0 mile
for ages 8 – 13 and .6 miles for ages 3 – 7. Parents
may accompany their younger children during
the Kids’ Fun Run.

9:45 a.m. Awards Ceremony
Until 12 noon Enjoy sponsors, vendors,
pizza, & beer
All runners are encouraged to bring their
own water supply for use during the race.
Emergency support from Sierra Madre
Search & Rescue will be stationed at strategic
points along the course to provide aid, as
necessary. Sierra Madre Cub Scouts Troop
110 will hand out water to the runners at
First Water (2.3 miles) and Sierra Madre
Boy Scouts Troop 110 will hand out water at
Orchard Camp (4.3 miles), the turn-around
point.
Good News! Sierra Madre’s Bottle Shop is
now selling four-pack cans of “2023 Mt Wilson
Trail Race Kölsch”, a limited release beer
made especially for this year’s MWTR by RT
Rogers Brewing Company of Sierra Madre.
The Kölsch beer is also currently being
served on tap at RT Rogers Brewing Company.
Proceeds from the beer sales will support
the “Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund,”
which pays for the supplies that the community
volunteers use to maintain and preserve
both the Mt. Wilson Trail and Bailey Canyon
Trail.
The MWTR course is 8.6 miles in length,
starting at Kersting Court, up Baldwin Ave.,
to Mira Monte Ave., to Orchard Camp and
back. The total elevation gain is over 2,160
feet. First run in 1908, the annual Mt. Wilson
Trail Race is one of the oldest trail races
in California.
