DR. PHLUNTE RIDDLE DIISTRICT 41
ASSEMBLY CANDIDATE GAINS THE
ENDORSEMENT OF SIERRA MADRE
CIVIC LEADERS LOWE, GOSS AND
ARIZMENDI
It was announced earlier this week that Sierra Madre Councilmembers
Kris Lowe and Gene Goss (Former Mayor) and former
Mayor Rachelle Arizmendi have endorsed Pasadena resident
Philante Riddle for the California Assembly Seat representing
District 41. Distict 41 is located in eastern Los Angeles
County and western San Bernardino County, including the San
Gabriel Valley communities of Pasadena, Altadena, La Canada
Flintridge, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, San Dimas, La Verne, and
Claremont and Inland Empire communities of Upland, Phelan,
Lytle Creek, Rancho Cucamonga, Wrightwood, and Hesperia.
"I'm proud to endorse Phlunte Riddle for Assembly because she had dedicated herself to public service
and delivering resources to improve neighborhood safety. I have full confidence that she will focus her
energy on doing what is right for the San Gabriel Valley foothill communities," stated Sierra Madre
Councilmember Lowe.
"I am honored to have earned endorsements from the distinguished city leaders of Sierra Madre. I am
grateful to Councilmembers Kristine Lowe, Gene Goss, and Rachelle Arizmendi for their support. As an
Assemblymember, I will focus on ensuring our Foothill communities have the resources they need from
our state government, and I look forward to collaborating with our local Sierra Madre elected officials
and community leaders to deliver results," stated Dr. Riddle.
Assemblymember Chris Holden (D) has held the seat since 2012 and is now running for LA County
Supervisor against Katherine Barger.
Dr. Riddle spent nearly 30 years serving in the Pasadena Police Department, moving through the ranks
as a patrol officer, detective, and community liaison. She broke barriers when she became the first African
American female sergeant, lieutenant, and then sworn Adjutant to the Chief of Police in the history
of the Pasadena Police Department.
She owns a consulting company, where she trains executives helping them to solve generational communications
challenges within organizations.
In 2019, Governor Gavin Newsom appointed her as a Board of Juvenile Discharge Hearings Commissioner
with California's Division of Juvenile Justice. Dr. Riddle also served the Foothill communities as
Assemblymember Chris Holden's District Director where she assisted with the expansion of the College
and Career Access Pathways program that allows high school students to take college and vocational
training courses. Together, she and Assemblymember Holden pursued solutions that work for expanding
the Gold Line, mental health services, public safety, and cleaner energy.
Dr. Riddle received her doctorate specializing in psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute. She holds
an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Woodbury University and a B.S. in Public Administration
from the University of La Verne. She is also a graduate of California Command College and a graduate
of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA.
Dr. Riddle has been married for over 40 years to her husband, Edgar. Together, they have three married
sons and six amazing grandchildren.
