EATON AIR MONITORING UPDATE
DIAMOND BAR – The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) continues its
expanded air monitoring efforts in response to ongoing debris removal efforts near the Eaton and Palisades
fire areas. Air monitoring will provide data for particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), air toxics (such as lead
and arsenic), and asbestos in communities near the burn zones.
The public within and near the Eaton and Palisades burn areas is strongly encouraged to follow the safety
precautions outlined by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to minimize the potential risk
of exposure to ash, soot, and fire debris. Strong winds can carry ash and soot over a wider area, increasing the
potential for exposure, so it is especially important to take extra care during weather fluctuations and windy
conditions.

ROYAL OAKS LIFE PLAN
COMMUNITY OFFICIALLY
JOINS THE CITY OF DUARTE
Royal Oaks, a HumanGood life plan community, and the City of Duarte
proudly announce the official annexation of Royal Oaks into the
city—a milestone following dedicated efforts made by the city, as well as
the residents and team members living and working at the community,
respectively.
The Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFC)
unanimously approved the annexation on February 12, strengthening the
community ties between Royal Oaks and Duarte.
“For 65 years, Royal Oaks has been home to many Duarte residents—
whether as part of our community or as dedicated team members,” said
John Cochrane, President and CEO of HumanGood. “I want to extend my
gratitude to our residents and team members for their determined advocacy
that helped bring us to this moment.”
Since its founding in 1959, Royal Oaks has offered enriching and supportive
living experiences and services for seniors including independent
living, assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing and short-stay rehabilitation.
The annexation marks a new chapter, ensuring long-term stability
and integration with Duarte’s municipal services.
"It is an exciting milestone as we officially welcome the Royal Oaks community
into the City of Duarte," said Mayor Cesar A. Garcia. "This annexation
strengthens our city, expands opportunities, and ensures our Royal
Oaks residents have access to the exceptional services Duarte has to offer.
We are grateful for the collaboration that made this possible and look forward
to building a brighter future together."
