“CAMINO DE SANTIAGO-MY JOURNEY MY WAY IN 29 DAYS
April 17-May 15, 2025”
by: Lorie Veiner-Clause
“CAMINO ANGELS”
Prior to starting the Camino de Santiago, my large brown eyes caught the attention of 2 words.
Camino Angels.
“The Camino provides” were 3 additional intriguing, magical words. Perception of the mystery
words sparked my curiosity. What do these powerful words indicate? Words that carry context
and meaning.
This pilgrim was foreign with the context of the subject until I personally experienced it myself.
The magic of the Camino Angels and how they do provide. I experienced Camino Angels on my 2nd day of walking
the Camino.
Walking from Roncesvalles to Zubiri. A kind person whom I met the day before assisted me with my 2 heavy
backpacks. Re attaching them to my small, petite body for better balance.
Another Camino Angel offered me Ibuprofen for my swollen foot in pain and a welcoming glass of vino.
Throughout my journey along ‘The Way,’ other Camino Angels appeared.
One cold morning, a pilgrim offered me a sandwich. I was starving and very grateful.
Other Camino Angels offered me snacks. Oreo cookies. Chocolate. Pizza. Pilgrim dinners. Café con leche. Vino.
One day, I was struggling up a hill. Limping in pain. A generous Camino Angel offered me one of her walking
poles. This pilgrim was resistant to accept it. However, I did as they insisted.
Camino Angels offered to pay for my bed at the Albergue a couple times. A physical therapist offered my small,
swollen purple foot a massage to reduce the pain.
A steady hand from a few pilgrims on various days assisted my small, petite body walking on various terrain
throughout the Camino.
A few Camino Angels offered to carry my heavy backpack. I carried their lighter backpack for the last 2 days of my
journey. My tiny body was shredding to exhaustion and starvation. It became physically obvious.
I too provided my Camino appreciation and hospitality by paying it forward. Offering tea. Miscellaneous food.
Advice to reduce shin splint pain.
The love of Camino Angels came to my rescue several times. Salty wet tears poured down my fair skinned face of
appreciation and gratitude. The Camino does provide.

LA COUNTY RESIDENTS ARRESTED IN ILLEGAL
MICROCHIPS EXPORT CASE
LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Two Chinese nationals living in Los Angeles
County have been arrested on federal charges alleging they were
paid more than $1 million for illegally exporting to China advanced
microchips used in artificial intelligence applications, officials announced
on Thursday.
Chuan Geng, 28, of Pasadena, and Shiwei Yang, 28, of El Monte, are
charged with violating the Export Control Reform Act, a felony carrying
a possible sentence of up to 20 years behind bars, according to
the U.S. Department of Justice.
Geng, a lawful permanent resident, surrendered to federal authorities
on Saturday. Yang, an undocumented immigrant who authorities allege
overstayed her visa, was arrested earlier the same day, the DOJ
said.
Federal prosecutors allege the defendants -- through their El Monte-
based ALX Solutions Inc. -- exported from the United States to China
sensitive technology, including graphic processing units without first
obtaining the required license or authorization from the U.S. Department
of Commerce.
At their initial appearance late Monday in Los Angeles federal court,
a judge ordered Geng released on $250,000 bond and scheduled an
Aug. 12 detention hearing for Yang. Arraignment is expected on Sept.
11.
According to the complaint, ALX Solutions was founded shortly
after the Commerce Department began requiring licenses for the advanced
microchips that Yang and Geng are alleged to have illegally
exported. Records indicate that at least 20 shipments by ALX Solutions
involved exports from the U.S. to shipping and freight-forwarding
companies in Singapore and Malaysia, which commonly are used
as transshipment points to conceal illegal shipments to China, according
to the DOJ.
According to the complaint and public information, the exported
chip is the most powerful computer chip of its kind on the market,
designed specifically for the development of self-driving cars, medical
diagnosis systems and other AI-powered applications.
Last week, law enforcement personnel searched ALX Solutions'
office and seized phones belonging to Geng and Yang that revealed
incriminating communications between the defendants, prosecutors
contend, including communications about shipping export-controlled
chips to China through Malaysia to evade U.S. export laws.
