Dear PUSD Community,

The first day of school for Pasadena Unified students is Monday, August 
18, and we are excited to welcome new and returning families! The 2025-
2026 school year brings fresh energy, new opportunities, and a shared 
commitment to bright futures for our students.

Our theme this year, The Power of PUSD: Rising Together, reflects the 
unity and strength of our students, families, staff, and community. After 
the Eaton fire, we’ve worked hard to restore school communities and ensure 
that students return to welcoming campuses.

We’re focused on advancing learning in literacy and math and expanding 
college and career readiness in schools that prioritize the well-being of 
our students.

Our schools offer innovative programs including dual language immersion 
in four languages, STEM, arts, International Baccalaureate, dual enrollment 
in college courses, Advanced Classes, and career technical education. 
This year, we’re launching an Immersive Storytelling Academy 
for middle school students. We’re also welcoming more than 550 new 
Transitional Kindergarten students and their families.

Academic excellence and student well-being remain top priorities. We’re 
expanding mental health services and ensuring every student feels seen, 
supported, and valued. PUSD educators and staff return this week for a 
“Launch into Wellness” to prepare for the year ahead.

We’ve also taken steps to ensure campuses remain safe and welcoming for 
all families, including guidance on federal immigration enforcement. For

Despite the hardships of last year, our students excelled in academics, 
athletics, and the arts. They made notable growth on state tests. Four 
schools were named California Distinguished Schools, and our graduates 
earned the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the state Seal of Biliteracy, 
and both high school diplomas and associate of arts degrees.

We’re proud of them and excited about the possibilities of the new school 
year.
