1630 AM EMERGENCY RADIO & 

Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for 
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs 
will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and 
can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens


Just 
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and 
e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

ADULT READING CHALLENGE AT THE LIBRARY

32 people have signed up in the first month of the Adult Reading 
Challenge. September was Science Fiction Month. The month of 
October challenges you to explore a biography or memoir.

STEAM CLUB

Sign-up Saturday, October 1st for the Rocket Building Craft and 
Launching Program on the third Thursday of October. The first 
STEAM Club, which happened on September 15th featured a free 
event with Mission Renaissance and was completely full with 25 
kids attending.

IN-N-OUT READING PROGRAM AT THE LIBRARY

Sign-ups begin on October 1st for children, ages 4-12 to earn a 
free voucher for an In-N-Out hamburger, cheeseburger or grilled 
cheese sandwich. Vouchers are provided for every 5 books they 
have read.

FALL FUN DAY AT THE LIBRARY

An afternoon of maker events awaits you on October 14th. Bring 
the kids to draw, play a harp, create origami, and even penny 
robots! A new event is featured every hour from Noon to four.

WALK-IN CRAFTS AT THE LIBRARY

Our first craft day had nearly 50 participants joining us to create 
a tree and read the book “The Giving Tree.” Come join us this 
month to create your own mask and read the book “Tough Guys 
have Feelings Too.”

HAPPENINGS• All contestants must fill out a waiver form in Kersting Court from 4:00 - 5:00 pm - late 
contestants can fill one out in Memorial Park• Categories: Group (All ages - Must include 1 youth under 17), 2 and under, 3 to 4 years old, 5 
to 7 years old, and 8 to 13 years old• Prizes will be given to the top 3 group and age category contestants.
• Strong efforts are being made to keep the contest to under an hour. Please arrive for a prompt
