LA COUNTY’S DYNAMIC DUO:

Kathryn Bargar and Debra Mendelsohn to the Rescue!

A few years ago, a term limit was
set for the LA County Board of
Supervisors and I was upset.
For the 25+ years, Supervisor
Antonovich worked tirelessly to
improve our area. He endorsed
Kathryn Bargar as his successor.
I had met this awesome lady,
but could she fill his shoes?
Supervisor Bargar brought in
Debra Mendelsohn, another
change, as her Chief Deputy.

 At last night’s Town Council
Meeting, Mendelsohn gave a
report on Bargar’s activities and
I couldn’t write fast enough to
record the updates!

. California Avenue-The
deplorable condition was mentioned at the April
Meeting. Mendelohn and Bargar discussed and
prioritized it. Funding was secured for improvement
and work began within days. One must realize the vast
size of our Fifth District. To put us first WAS a big deal.
. Supervisor Bargar and Deputy Mendelsohn are
working with all three cities-Monrovia, Arcadia, and
Duarte and surrounding county areas to combat
crime. Dialogue and their working together has been
encouraged.
. Supervisor’s aggressive approach to crime includes a
LASD Summer Enforcement Team made available by
some of her discretionary funds.
. Funding also provides two additional deputies
for increased weekend saturation patrol and LASD’s
Operations Safe Streets.
. A special grant for the Monrovia-Arcadia-Duarte
Town Council to sponsor the Summer Concert Series
at Station Square and for operational costs such as
printing flyers and Certificates, purchasing awards and
other needs.
. A future LA County Fair Day with the MAD
Unincorporated areas. Currently “Cities” have days
with reduced admission and special events.
. Town Council will have a Booth at Supervisor
Bargar’s Annual Veterans Fair.

The Monrovia-Arcadia-Duarte
Town Council, Los Angeles
County Sheriff’s Department
and Los Angeles County Parks
and Recreation Department
are VERY GRATEFUL to
Supervisor Bargar and Chief
Deputy Debra Mendelsohn.
Both of these fine ladies are
working nonstop to bring
positive changes to our areas.

 At the Town Council Meeting,
Captain Dave Flores thanked
Supervisor Bargar and Chief
Deputy Mendelsohn for their
great support and funding. He
introduced the Special Summer
Enforcement Team- Sgt. Jeff
Serpa, Deputies Eric Marbach, Steven Provenzano,
Monique Moreno and Jose Villanueva and OSS Gang
Investigator Deanna Ballesteros.

When Sam Estrada, Pamela Park Director gave his
update, he also acknowledged Bargar and Mendelsohn
and their great support and funding which helps with
special events such as Youth Appreciation Day and
Parks after Dark Program.

Thank You to LA County’s Dynamic Duo Supervisor
Barger and Chief Field Deputy Mendelsohn for so
much assistance in four short months. The Monrovia-
Arcadia-Duarte Town Council is VERY grateful to you
and looks forward to working together in the upcoming
