The Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sierra Madre announced 
their choices for awardees at the annual Honors Dinner to be held 
on December 4, 2019. The event will honor those who have made major 
contributions to the community during the year in an effort to preserve the 
jewel of the foothills known as Sierra Madre.

 Mrs. Quigley was nominated and selected for her tireless volunteer efforts 
over the years including her current work supporting the Sierra Madre 
Library.

 Leonora Moss, a floral shop located in Kersting Court has been serving 
the community for more than 20 years and been an active supporter of the 
community. 

Other honorees include:

The George Maurer Lifetime Achievement Award for a person/entity whose 
lifetime of service embodies the spirit of volunteerism willbe awarded to 
Robert Spears

The Wistaria Award recognizing a City/Community Partnership that assists 
with providing community wide programs and services will be awarded to 
Danny Osti/Osti Tree Service

The Public Safety Award for an employee/individual for protecting and 
maintaining safety in Sierra Madre will be presented to Brent Bartlett and 
Lilian Shaw

Exemplary Service Award for outstanding performance as a 
city employee will be presented to James Mc Gowan and Kenny 
Bullock.

Awardees were selected from nominations received from members 
of the community.

The awards will be presented at the Honors Dinner on December 
4, 2019 in the Sierra Madre Room at the Recreation Center, 611 
E, Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. This is the third joint event, 
as in previous years the Chamber held the Citizens of the Year 
Dinner and the city held its Volunteer Awards separately.

The event is free, however reservations are required. Please call

November 10, to November 17, 2019 


 During this period the Sierra Madre Police Department 
responded to 236 calls for service. 

DUI Arrest

 On 11-11-19 at 2:24AM in the 200 block of W. 
Sierra Madre Bl. officers stopped a motorist for a vehicle 
code violation. During the field investigation 
it was determined that the driver was driving under 
the influence, had a suspended/revoked license, 
was driving without an interlock device, and was in 
possession of a controlled substance. The driver was 
arrested and taken to Pasadena jail for booking. 
Case to DA’s office for filing consideration 

Traffic collision 
On 11/11/2019, at 1:31PM, a vehicle traveling on 
N. Mountain Trail Ave. at Sturtevant Dr. struck a 
parked vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle a few 
blocks away and the driver was cited. 

Theft from a Vehicle 
On 11-12-19 at 7:44PM a resident filed a report that 
an unknown person(s) entered his unlocked vehicle 
parked in the 100 block of E. Laurel Ave. and stole a 
guitar and other personal items. 
Case to Detectives 

Traffic Collision 
On 11-14-19 at 1:33PM an officer responded to an 
injury traffic collision between two vehicles at N. 
Baldwin Ave. and Highland Ave. One driver was 
transported to a local hospital for treatment by 
SMFD Paramedics. 

Theft from a Vehicle 
A vehicle burglary occurred in the 200 block of N. 
Mountain Trail Ave., sometime between 11-14-19 
at 6:30PM and 11-15-19 at 4:00AM. The suspect(s) 
smashed open a left rear passenger window of the 
victim's vehicle and took items from the interior 
of the vehicle. The suspect(s) fled the scene in an 
unknown direction, by unknown means.
