HELICOPTER INVASION?

Residents want to know why the increase in helicopter flyovers

The message below was provided by SoCal Edison to the Sierra Madre Police
Department in regards to the aerial inspections happening in the City:

"SCE will be conducting aerial inspections of its electrical equipment in
your community over the next few weeks. The aerial inspections of SCE's
transmission and distribution facilities will involve the use of helicopter
and/or drones and will only take place during daylight hours. You can learn
more about SCE’s Aerial Inspections at https://on.edison.com/2LsF8m1.

We are doing this in all high fire risk areas—approximately 35 percent of
our service area. We understand our activities may be disruptive when we
do this important safety work and will do everything we can to minimize
the impact to you and your community. We appreciate your support and cooperation,
as this is part of our ongoing commitment to safety and supporting
California's fight against wildfires. For additional information about
how SCE is addressing the threat of wildfires, please visit sce.com/safety/

SMRFA FLOAT DESIGN
CONTEST 2021

Your Design Could Be Next......

It is time for you to put on your thinking caps and pick up
your pencils. We are looking for your design submissions
for the 2021 parade.

Tournament of Roses President for 2021, Bob Miller, announced
the hint for the 2021 Theme.

“The 2021 theme celebrates education’s ability to open
doors, open minds and change lives. Education paves the
path to success with a world of opportunities achieved
through knowledge, compassion and determination. As
students visualize their future, education is the bridge to
accomplish their aspirations and encourage generations
to come.Together, let’s celebrate dreams fulfilled, goals
achieved, and millions of lives forever changed.”

The emphasis is on education – our new Tournament
President’s belief that education is the key to success and
it needs to be meaningful and memorable. He believes in
education!!

Instructions and submission forms are on our website
here:

SMRFA Float Design Packet 2021

The submissions will be due by 5 PM on February 7th.
We hope to see a large number of submissions, so we will
be able to present another award winning float.
