Pasadena Unified School District

MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT REGARDING MEASURE
O, ELECTIONS

Dear PUSD Community,

According to early results of the election on November 3, Measure O has been approved by voters. This
ensures that Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) students have increased access to technology, expanded
STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) courses, and make vital improvements
to school facilities. Election results will be certified in December.

This is great news for our students, families, faculty, and staff, and we thank the Pasadena community for
their continued investment in our schools.

Pasadena Unified has demonstrated that our schools are a cornerstone of our community and that residents
embrace our students and schools.

We are grateful to countless community supporters for their trust and belief in this great school district.

We also welcome newly-elected Board of Education members and thank outgoing members.

As our country processes the results of the national election, we encourage students to talk to teachers,
counselors, and staff about any anxieties or concerns. The District is providing additional support to
those who need it.

Sincerely,

Brian McDonald, Ed.D.

Superintendent

TABLE FOR TWO by Peter Dills

BELLA SERA TRATTORIA SO GOOD!

Over the past few years I have made it a point to let my readers/listeners know that I am in a constant
search for the family owned restaurant. You may accurately say, it is the Holy Grail for this Restaurant
Critic. It is the American dream for many and a business which has put many a child through diapers
and college. It may stem out of some kind of shameless guilt which I carry. For I have written about the
Big Chains almost exclusively these past few months, but I vowed that I would return to my true love,
the Local Corner Restaurant. I think I found the Grail.
Tap your heels together three times and just repeat the
words, “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like
home.”

It has been there right in front of me the whole time! Bella
Sera The pride of Monrovia has been on Myrtle for many
years true under a few different owners, but they are the
best at what they do. This reviewer usually plays by the
rules but with Covid 19 and the elections I gave Chef Joe
Borrelli a heads up that I was coming in. The setting at
Bella Sera is as you would expect a restaurant like this; unpretentious and very welcoming.

There is a some street parking next to the theater and plenty of 4-hour free parking lots, what did I eat?
Chef Joe did his home work, The Crab Cake Eggs Benedict from the Brunch menu were out of this
world, the pizzas are great and as you know I love great French fries and they use the Kanabec potato,
no frozen stuff here. I Sampled the Short Rib Ragu and again thumbs up. Really, nothing like a great
meal. Next time Ill have the Cioppino, we ran out of napkins!!

Seating is limited to the back patio , but that’s OK plenty of safe distancing and I believe a few seats
on the sidewalk for you people watchers,. Bella Sera a neighborhood restaurant that you wish was just
down the street from you!!
