SPOTLIGHT SIERRA MADRE

SANTA'S LITTLE HELPERS

Giving back to your community is an amazing act. Made even
more amazing when those giving back are children. I would like
you all to meet three very special kids Frances, Hudson and Oliver
Farnam. Frances is 13 and is probably one of the most mature
and giving hearted 13 year old's I’ve ever met. Not only does she
do normal things that a girl her age likes to do but one of her huge
hobbies is converting a 1976 914 Porsche from gas to electric! If

that's not impressive I don't know what is! At 13 I was hanging out in the park thinking I
was a rebel because my friends rode skateboards (yea, I was that girl lol). When I found out
Frances was doing the Porsche project I approached her with one of my own. We received
a kids table as a donation to be a Christmas present for one of the Sierra Madre Gives Back
families. It's very sturdy but needed a new paint job and Frances took it in stride! Not only
is she sanding, painting and decorating the table in a batman theme, the recipients favorite,
but she chose
to forgo getting
paid for the job
and just receive
service hours.

don't know
many adults, let
alone kids who
would take service
hours over
cash in hand.
She's a keeper!

` Frances’s
brothers, Oliver
and Hudson,
have as much of
a giving spirit
as she does! The
3 of them approached
me because even at such a young age they understand that there are people in
the world less fortunate than they are. These 3 amazing kids pooled all of their savings together
in order to “adopt” a family with 3 young girls for Christmas. I am in complete awe
of this incredible family. They decided they wanted to purchase an extremely popular and
expensive gift for these girls (I’m not mentioning the name in case the family they adopted
is reading this, gotta keep the Christmas spirit of surprises alive!). When they realized they
didn't have the resources on their own to do this, they enlisted the help of community
members and those that follow Frances’s Porsche project. They received multiple donations
to help them on their charitable journey. I think we should all definitely take a page
from their book. These kids are driven and generous and that's an unstoppable combination.
A lot of people, during the holidays, are preoccupied with what gifts they want and
what they'll receive. But not these kids, I mean don't get me wrong they want presents,
who doesn't? But it doesn't define them, their generous hearts and beautiful souls define
them. Let's please take a second and applaud Jeanie and Dan Farnam (the parents). They
are obviously doing something right! Take a bow Farnam family! You deserve it and we
salute you! Thank you!
