a positiv•e affitude throughout the season! She is an amazfr,g eammate as well as making great improvements
as a baseball player!

A- SM YANKEES HUGO H Hugo couldn't wait for the SMLL Spring 2022 season to start He would
count down tl1e days until he could p.la with his new A Ball team, the• Madre Yankees. But before
he season began., and even before the first practice was held, Hugo suffered a skull injury during ain
accident at scho•ol. While It was not life-threatening, lhis pediiatriciar, "'benched him for the start
of the season. Hugo couldn' practice or play in an􀆉 games until his tiead injury healed. But Hugowouldn't let l1at. stop him from jo,ining lhis team. He attended practices aind watched his teammates
om the bench_ He attended SMLL Opening Day .and sat out duringi game after game - all while in
1t.mifom1. After two months, on March 22, he was finally giiven the green light to take the tleld l-l'e
tiad three hits and made an out for the Madre Yankees as they played the Madre Rangers. At he end
of the game, the team che,ered for him anid he earned U1e game ball.

AA- SM ROYALS This is his first year ev,er p1aying baseb.all. When Andrew Z... is not at school or
pla ring baseball, he is on the 'ice. Andrew plays 1ice hocke:ir, and is actually an e·lite and well known
player around he area. In between his busy hockey schedul.e, he has been practicing hard working
on his fie'lding and hitting_ Andr,ew got his first hit a few weeks ago, but· his past weekend Andrew
absolutely blistered he ball wi ha full count on; him for his first inside tihe park horne run! He also
has be en a key player ,in tlhe Roy a Is def en s,e and has been makiiflg accurate and smart throws!
Every weelk he contJinues to grow as a baseball played

AAA - SM WHITE SOX Lukas C. has. been making a huge impact on his team and is 011e of tihe
yorn1ge-st players ·n. AAA'! Lukas always has a positive altitude and p'lays wiha ever position he is
asked to! This pas week he hi 2 triples to help his team earn a W against PSW! He ls a positive teammate
a11d brings a solid attitude to his gamel Wh-e-n not on the field, he enjoys spending· time at
Heasley Field enjoying the diner a.nd watchiing baseball!

MAJORS - SM DODGERS Miles B. was stellar in his game last week where ttie SM Dodge-rs took on
the PALL Marlins. Miles W€nt 3, for 3 wi h 3 doubles. In addition, he pitched 2 scoreless innings in a
, 4-6 victory for the Dodgers. His positive altitude, strong sportsmanship, and performance on tihe
field earned llim this weeks SM major player of· he week.

fails to bring her shining personality to the field_ A hard working hitter and fielder, Jolie
has fun at everything she does and shares that joy with 11 other members if of her entire

SIERRA MADRE GIRLS SOFTBALL SPRING SEASON UPDATES

March 24, 2022 – Sierra Madre Girls Softball Association’s Spring Season is off to a strong start!
After an exciting Opening Day Parade and Ceremony on March 6th to celebrate our 50th Anniversary
Season, the girls have been playing hard and having fun! Highlights from the past month’s
games include:

8U Division

March 6 – Killer Bees 9 vs. Panthers 3
March 11 -- Killer Bees 7 vs. Diamond Dynamites 1
Maddy Liang 2-2 with 3 RBI’s for KB.

March 20 –Flaming Hawks 7 vs. Pink Lightning 4

Rylie McKenzie pitched 3 great innings for the Flaming
Hawks. Stella Majich made a great put out at 1st
base and got a big hit at the plate. All Flaming Hawks
players contributed to the win at the plate, getting
timely hits and doing a great job running the bases.

March 20 – Killer Bees 2 vs. Baby Yodas 0Olivia Medrano pitched complete game shutout with
18 Ks. Marlo Gomez doubled the winning run in.
Baby Yoda's CJ Hull had a double play: pop-fly and
force out a second.

March 25 – Killer Bees 13 vs. Pink Lightning 1

M. Liang 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs. M.Stearns, J.Frey, M.
Gomez with 2 hits.
March 27 – Pink Lightning 5 vs. Killer Bees 10

For Pink Lightning, Natalie Miranda made a great
play snagging a line drive at third base. Abagail Sanchez
had a big triple. Nala Saunders had a single that
drove in two runs for the Pink Lightning. Sarah Bates
continues to show of her arm at catcher and made a
number of big throws to keep the runners at bay. For
Killer Bees, Daphne Tolentino 2-2 with 2 RBI’s.

10U Division

March 6 – Killer Crocs 5 vs. Lady Bruins 5March 13 – Red Hot Chili Peppers 6 vs. Killer Crocs

Lily Hageman, who just started playing softball this
year, got her first hit of the season:)

March 20 – Killer Crocs 3 vs. Danger Zone 6Molly Ruyle collected her first hit of the season. Lillian
Dawkins crushed a two-run homer in the final
inning.

March 25 – Lady Bruins 5 vs. Killer Crocs 7Caitlin Cobb and Chloe Luna collected their first
hits of the season. Way to go!

March 27 – Purple Reign 10 vs. Killer Crocs 3Jenay Jones recorded her first hit of the season.

12U Division
March 20 – Cobra Kai 6 vs. Krypotonite 3

Surging Cobra Kai defeated previously unbeaten
Kryptonite behind a pitcher Angelica Guerrero who
pitched 5 innings. Cobra Kai’s Rhiannon Barry hit a
deep drive to RF for HR and added a great catch in
CF in the 5th. Shortstop Jaden May added two stellar
plays in the 5th inning to thwart any comeback
attempt. With the victory, Cobra Kai rose to 2nd
place in the standings with another matchup against
Kryptonite in two weeks.
