INTRODUCING SIERRA MADRE LITTLE LEAGUE’S 2022 ALL STAR TEAMS!

SIERRA MADRE SOFTBALL COACH
RECEIVES SPECIAL COMMENDATIONS

Coach Vinny Pagan, Daughters Raquel and Havana, and wife Alicia

June 10, 2022 – Here in its 50th Season, Sierra Madre Softball has been gaining new recognition acrossthe region not only for their rising skills, but also for sportsmanship. Coach Vinny Pagan has become a
major leader on both fronts.

Coach Vinny’s teams continue to win championships, anchored by his All-Star daughters Raquel(“Rocky”, age 10), and Havana (12). As you would expect, this success often puts Pagan and his playersin the most competitive situations, where tensions can run high, and play-calls by the umpire can takea wrong turn.

Last Spring during All Stars, an opposing team’s coach was acting aggressively and discouraging playerson the field. After the game, the umpire gave Pagan the game ball for being classy and playing throughthe situation.

Last Fall rules came into question during a tournament involving multiple cities. Coach Vinny broughtthe managers together and sacrificed his team’s shot at the championship - just to make sure all the girlscould all play, and to carry on goodwill between the leagues.

This week the following message came in from Tony Gazzera, President of the Gold Coast UmpiresAssociation: “I wanted to let you know that your coaches, parents and players were all wonderful. Theymade Sierra Madre Girls Softball proud by the way they played and how they conducted themselves. I
have to make special mention of your 12U Gold Head Coach Vinny, who never lost his cool despite
incorrect calls by my umpires during the semifinal game. Your coach just went back to his dugout and
coached his girls, which I think was great.”

 Go Madre…and Go Coach Vinny!

Vinny Pagan is just one of many great coaches and board members continue to raise the reputation ofour town, and most importantly set these examples for our children. This same positive culture is a well-
maintained tradition at Sierra Madre Little League as well.
The two leagues have never had a richer collaboration, including a major fundraising partnershipto upgrade the lights at Heasley Field, to energy-efficient LED technology. You’ll find their families
working together this coming July 3 at the big celebration which is coming back to Memorial Park. Yes, GET BREAKING NEWS ONLINE AT: that includes the famous Beer Garden!
