SOFTBALL ENHANCES PLAYER DEVELOPMENT WITH SPECIAL
ENRICHMENT CLINICS

Highlights from Last Sunday at Heasley Field – Sierra Madre Girls Softball’s Fall teams continue to impress here at
Heasley Field every Sunday, while our premier “Select” Teams battle elite competition all around SoCal.

Pictured here, 8 year old Lucille Pazmino stands ready at the plate, as the Blue Falcons pitcher prepares to deliver. Later that day, the 12U
team Pink Fury saw strong hits by Evan Cuento, Emily Lencioni, and Meleina Martinez, who also pulled off a successful steal of home.
Paloma Moon, who is now famous for her triple-play last week, pitched three solid innings, with Luna Borboa coming in as the closer.

Overall, 24 softball teams come through Heasley field every Sunday to play. The league is operating at a record level in participation and
regional success. This is entirely thanks to a richly talented Board and, as is seen throughout Sierra Madre, amazing volunteership from
parents to coach and guide the girls.

SMGSA’s Board Activities Director Jaime Covey has planned a powerful series of clinics to enhance the players’ experience. Working
with SMGSA coaches, regional college coaches and players, as well as elite counselors in personal motivation, every registered player gets
free access to these special people to take their skills, goals and sportsmanship to the next level. Recently USA Softball directors attended
one of these local clinics at Heasley. Blown away at the attendance and quality of content benefitting the girls, they filmed the event as an
example to leagues nationwide.

On another positive front, SMGSA’s Board Umpire Director Stephanie Schwartz who is a former SMGSA player successful college catcher,
continues her great work with USA Softball to train Junior Umpires who have gone out to earn real money officiating games around the
region. This program, and the sportsmanship of Sierra Madre’s coaches and visiting parents when they travel for games, has established
SMGSA as a leader in Southern California.
