SIERRA MADRE'S 10U TEAM AMONG REGION'S BEST
SMGSA 10U Select (ShockWave)
opened up pool play for the Northern
District Select tournament in
dominating fashion. The two 10U
teams each ended the day 2-0. The
teams combined outscored their opponents
52 - 4 over 4 games. Offensively
the teams were red hot, led by
Dalia Medrano who was 5 for 6 on
the day which included 2 triples and
1 homerun while driving in 8. Other
top offensive performances included
Kaitlyn Bent and Maddie Lencioni
who each had 4 hits and Laurel Traeger
and Ally Thomas who added 3
hits each.
In the pitching circle, Shockwave was
equally dominant. Maddie Lencioni
shut down La Habra with a complete
game. She struck out 15 over
5 innings while only allowing 1 hit.
Additionally, Samantha Gonzales
pitched a complete inning no-hitter
against Chino Select. She struck out
5 over 4 inningings while only allowing
1 baserunner. Shockwave teams
captured the number 1 seed in their
respective pools as they head into
bracket play.
