SIERRA MADRE WOMAN’S CLUB
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

CITY HOSTS VOLUNTEER BREAKFAST

On Thursday, the city hosted a ‘Thank You’
breakfast for volunteers at the newly renovated
Sierra Madre Room at the Recreation Center.

Without question, volunteers are the backbone
to Sierra Madre, without whom it would not
be possible to have a ‘full service city’, said
Mayor John Buchanan. In the Fire Department
alone, the city saves no less than $2 million
dollars per year.

De Alcorn, Secretary of Volunteerism thanked
the many, many individuals and community
organizations that “keep this town running”.

This event is not in lieu of the annual Honors
dinner that will be held later in the year at
Alverno High School.

 Sierra Madre Woman’s
Club President,
Roasemary Morabito
and Scholarship
Chairperson, Jayne
Thomas awarded
three outstanding

Madre as it relates to updating the Sierra Madre General Plan.

 What is a General Plan?

A General Plan is a document which provides goals, objectives, policies, and a set of maps
and diagrams. The General Plan is a blueprint for what Sierra Madre will be, and it provides
the basis for future City policy decisions for the next ten to twenty years. It is a document
that reflects the community’s shared vision for the future.

What’s YOUR vision for Sierra Madre? Please fill out the survey.

An update to the General Plan cannot be done without your input. Fill out the survey on-
line, drop the survey form in the mail or return it to Sierra Madre City Hall, 232 W. Sierra
Madre Blvd. Your input will help the GPSC formulate goals, objectives, and policies for the
Sierra Madre General Plan.

busy every since it opened its doors. The restaurant has been busy constantly during
breakfast, lunch and dinner its first week of operation. So, the answer to the question “Will
Sierra Madre support a fast food restaurant?” is easy. You Betcha!
