CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF BLIND SUCCESS
By Joan Schmidt
Never mind the pouring rain. That didn’t keep away thirty people from attending a special ribbon cutting ceremony at
the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce to mark the 20th Anniversary of John Sun’s Budget Blinds. Among those attending
were Arcadia City Council candidates, Chamber Ambassadors, many new members and representatives from local public
officials.
There was of course the official “Ribbon Cutting” Ceremony. Many presentations were made and a delicious free lunch
was provided by Tasty to Go.
Tasty to Go, which is located at the corner of Second Avenue and Duarte Road, brought quite a delicious meal which
included Fried Rice, Chow Mein, Beef and Broccoli and Orange Chicken. Beverages were provided by Au 79.
Arcadia Chamber of Commerce President Bob Hoffman of Merrill Lynch presented the member plaque to John Sun.
Other presenters included Steve Johnson from State Assemblyman Tim Donnelly’s office, Hovanes Gasparian from State
Assemblyman Anthony Portantino’s office, Brenda Daniels representing Supervisor Mike Antonovich, and David Monray
on behalf of State Senator Bob Huff.
The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce has great networking meetings on the first Thursday at 8:00 each month. There are
always local officials or their representatives who give community members updates on what is happening in our areas. For
instance, Supervisor Mike Antonovich was at the first meeting I attended. He addressed the issue of the state’s transfer of
prisoners to county jails and early release of prisoners. Another Chamber meeting had Secret Service members speak about
counterfeit money!
The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce if located at 388 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00
A.M.-5:00 P.M. Phone (626) 447-2159.
