As you may have witnessed, train testing is underway
within the corridor between Monrovia and Irwindale,
and will soon expand to all corridor cities -- continuing
through the summer. Flaggers and County Sheriff’s
deputies continue to support the testing activities,
overseeing safety at crossings as the train approaches.
As the systems are fully tested and approved in their
final working condition, this assistance will be phased
out. Earlier this week, the Pasadena Star News sent
a photographer out to capture the train testing. The
photo above is of the train crossing Highland Ave in
Duarte.

The Construction Authority has begun regular
meetings with corridor cities and the station design
and art review committees in the Azusa to Montclair
segment. The artists (shown below) are developing
their concepts now based on the initial committee
meetings and research, and will be seeking feedback
from the general community in the coming months.
To facilitate that feedback, as well as provide a general
update about the project and future stations, the
Construction Authority is hosting open houses in each
corridor city in April and May:

SURVEY REPORTING SEXUAL
MISBEHAVIOR ON METRO
BUSES AND RAIL LINES
SHOWS NEED FOR
ADDITIONAL SECURITY

LOS ANGELES COUNTY — As detailed in news reports, an MTA customer survey shows that 22%
of passengers experienced unwanted sexual advances or behavior on buses and trains over the last six
months.

“The findings of this survey reveal a disturbing trend facing Metro customers and further proves the
vital need to increase -- not decrease -- the level of security on our trains and buses,” said L.A. County
Mayor Michael D. Antonovich, an MTA Director. “Providing a safe environment for our passengers is
our responsibility.”

The survey showed that more than one in five Metro passengers were subjected to unwanted sexual
advances or behavior while riding Metro trains and buses in Los Angeles County during the first half
of 2014.

Anyone who sees inappropriate behavior should call 911 or the sheriff’s hotline: (888) 950-SAFE (7233).
