NEW LIVE OAK LIBRARY DEDICATION IN ARCADIA

MONROVIA POLICE BLOTTER

By Joan Schmidt

November 2nd was a VERY HAPPY DAY in Arcadia for the
Monrovia-Arcadia-Duarte County residents. After MANY YEARS
of pleading for a larger facility and never giving up, a larger facility
is now a reality. What is SO AWESOME is it was PURCHASED; it’s
not a rental. Any improvements can be made and there is NO lease
to worry about.

How did this come to fruition? First of all thank you to Supervisor
Antonovich and Los Angeles County for purchasing the building.
(This is one of the reasons I am SO SAD to see him termed out. I could
write VOLUMES on what he has done for our area.) And there are
TWO other very special people who never gave up and spent YEARS
lamenting the small size of Live Oak Library and the GREAT need
for a larger facility. They are current Town Council Member Linda
Sells and the late Town Council Member John Nicoloro. (There
will be a special Memorial Dedication to the late John Nicoloro on
WEDNESDAY, November 9, at 1:00 PM at Pamela Park, Duarte.
Hope to see many there.)

Wednesday’s event was very special. Besides Supervisor
Antonovich, the Town Council was represented by Chair, Dave Hall
and Council Members, Gloria Huss, Lucy Nicoloro, Linda Sells and
Terrence Williams. Arcadia Mayor Tom Beck and Mayor Pro Tem
Peter Amundson as well as County Library Officials were on hand. It
is surely a great day for county residents!

Following are the weekend’s highlighted issues and events. To see a
complete listing of crimes reported, go to the City of Monrovia website and
