 Back by popular demand,
Director Bill Moore and his
Monrovia H. S. Camerata Singers
will treat the California Retired
Teachers’ Association #71
(CalRTA) to the joyous sounds
of the holidays at a luncheon
meeting on Friday, December 9 at
11:30 a.m. A graduate of Azusa
Pacific University (APU), Director
Bill Moore is well known in the
community for his fine choral
conducting at both Duarte H. S. in
the past and Monrovia H. S. in the
present.

The Retired Teachers group has
welcomed Mr. Moore and his
choral ensembles many times in
the past years. In turn, Mr. Moore
states that he is excited and pleased
to be back singing for CalRTA.
His Camerata Singers is a talented
32-member group of well-blended voices that has been highly ranked at music festivals by the Southern California Vocal Association. To
delight the audience, the singers’ performance will include a sing-along of “Joy to the World” and other traditional Christmas music.

The CalRTA #71 luncheon meeting will take place at the Senior Center Building in Arcadia Park (county park), 405 W. Santa Anita
Ave., Arcadia, next to the Lawn Bowling Greens. Guests are welcome to come enjoy the luncheon and the delightful musical program.
The cost of the luncheon for members and guests is $12. For luncheon reservations, please call John Gera at (626) 286-0714 by the Friday,
December 2 deadline.

BETHANY CHRISTIAN GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM

COMPLETES 2016 SEASON

With a new coach at the helm and sporting a roster that mixed
experience and youth, the Bethany Christian School Lady Lions
completed a very successful 2016 volleyball season last week. A
hard-fought, two-set away loss in the first round of the playoffs to
a strong Barnhart team knocked the Lions from championship
contention but did not spoil a highly rewarding season.

Improving upon their record from the previous season, the
Lions finished the 2016 regular season with a 6-6 record, including
key league wins over Judson and Waverly, qualifying fourth in the
top playoff bracket in the Foothill Sports League.

Leading the team in kills for the season were Rachel Molina
(8th grade) and Cate Crabb (7th grade). Star server Faith Peterson
(8th grade) and skilled setters Zoe Maros (8th grade) and Natalie
Bayrakdarian (8th grade) supported a 13-girl roster that included
two fourth graders and two fifth graders. Versatile player Saundri
Luippold rounded out the 8th grade g roup completing their middle
school volleyball careers.

First-year coach Amanda Heitritter expressed her admiration
for the players' efforts. "I am very proud of the girls' willingness to
work together and try a new system," she said. "They demonstrated
tremendous teamwork and represented themselves and their
school very well."

With eight returning players, the BCS Lady Lions appear poised
for another successful campaign in 2017.
