During this time period, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded 
to approximately 210 day and night time calls for service.

Tuesday, December 6

It appears that at about 9:00 p.m., an unknown suspect(s) entered the 
resident’s open garage and unlocked vehicle. The suspect(s) stole a wallet 
that contained U.S. currency and miscellaneous credit/debit cards. One 
card were later used at a retail store in the San Fernando Valley at 10:01 
p.m. and another card was used at a gas

station in the Inland Empire at 10:24 p.m.

This case forwarded to Detectives

10:14 p.m.

A resident in the 400 block of Fairview Terrace reported an attempted 
break- in at his residence. It appears that sometime between 3:30 p.m. 
and 8:00 p.m., unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry into the 
residence by smashing a French-style door window pane leading into 
the family room. An attempt to enter was also made through a bedroom 
window. The victim reported that it did not appear that any items were 
stolen.

Case forwarded to Detectives

Wednesday, December 7

At about 7:56 a.m. an officer was dispatched to the 00 block of E. 
Esperanza Ave. regarding a theft from a vehicle report. The victim 
stated that on 12/6/16 at about 7:30 p.m. she left her unlocked car in the 
car port of the apartment complex, when she returned the following 
morning at about 7:45 am. she noticed her glove box open and several 
items missing.

Case pending new information

8:49 p.m.

Officers responded to the 00 block of N. Lima Street for a report of a 
physical altercation. During the course of the investigation, and with 
the information provided, the officers arrested the male and booked 
him at the Pasadena Jail for battery.

Case forwarded to the D.A’s office for filing consideration

Thursday, December 8

An unknown person(s) broke a large window pane in the 600 block of 
Sierra Madre Blvd. between the hours of 12/7/16 at about 9:30 a.m. and 
9:40 a.m. this date.

Officers reported that this case is pending.

Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for 
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs 
will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and 
can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens


Just 
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and 
e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

SIERRA MADRE CHRISTMAS 
TREE RECYCLING AND HOLIDAY 
TRASH SCHEDULE


Athens Services will once again collect Christmas trees after the 
holidays for recycling. Trees 
will be collected on your 
normal pickup day beginning 
on December 26th and until 
the end of the second week in 
January. 

Please remove stands, 
ornaments, lights and tinsel. 
Place trees next to your regular 
trash containers. Trees over 
6 feet in length must be cut in 
half. Trees with flocking or fire 
retardants are acceptable. 

If you miss the regular tree collection period, please make 
arrangements to have Athens collect your tree as part of their bulky 
item pickup program by calling 888-336-6100.

Residents should also be aware that holiday collection days this year 
will not be delayed by the usual single day due to the Christmas 
Holiday and New Year’s Day Holiday landing on Sundays.
