1630 AM EMERGENCY RADIO & 

Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for 
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs 
will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and 
can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens


Just 
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and 
e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

NATURE FRIENDS


Nature Friends, Los Angeles Branch, will 
be hosting a talk by author and naturalist 
Christopher Nyerges, on Saturday, February 
18, at 4 p.m., at their Sierra Madre clubhouse, 
located at 423 Yucca Trail, Sierra Madre. 

Nyerges, who has authored 16 books, will 
speak about his educational work with wild 
foods, self-reliance, and survival, and will 
share a short video. Nyerges has led wild 
food and survival skills walks since 1974.

Nature Friends, which was established in 
Vienna in 1885, built their Sierra Madre 
clubhouse in 1923, where it serves as a nature sanctuary and retreat 
center.

 Nyerges’ talk will be followed by question and answer period, and 
a potluck. There is a $5 fee for members, and $7 for non-members.

ART IN BLOOM OPENING

Creative Arts Group is proud to present Art in Bloom, an art 
exhibition pairing the community’s finest floral designers with 
work from our most talented artists. Designers will create floral 
arrangements that complement and interpret select works of art 
including paintings, ceramics, sculptures, and mixed media to be 
displayed in our gallery. An opening reception with wine and hors 
d’oeuvres will be held Friday, March 3, from 7-9 pm. The show will 
continue Saturday, March 4 from 10-5 pm, and Sunday, March 5, 
from 11-4 pm. Art in Bloom is open to the public.
