Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for 
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs 
will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and 
can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens


Just 
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and 
e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com. 


SENIOR COMMUNITY 
COMMISSION SEEKING OLDER 
AMERICAN NOMINATIONS

Sierra Madre, CA – January 30, 2017 - The City of Sierra Madre 
Community Services Department and the Senior Community 
Commission are seeking your collaboration The honor is a long-standing 
tradition in Sierra Madre and bestowed upon exceptional individuals, 
age 60 or older, who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to 
community service. The individual selected by you or any organization 
must live in Sierra Madre. 

 All submissions are due prior to, or no later than Thursday, March 
23, 2017. Recommendations are now being accepted for this recognition 
and will only be eligible for new candidates who have not been honored 
in prior years. Forms may be picked up and returned to the Hart Park 
House Senior Center located at 222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., or please 
mail and/or walk in to Sierra Madre City Hall, c/o Older American 
Nomination, Community Services Department, 232 W. Sierra Madre 
Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024. 

 The Commission will review nomination forms and select an honoree 
at their regularly scheduled meeting open to the public in the City Hall 
Council Chambers on Thursday, April 6th at 3:00 p.m. 

 The honoree will also be recognized at a city reception held in their 
honor on Friday, May 12th, 2017. Further details will follow.

SIERRA MADRE POLICE BLOTTER

February 26th – March 4th 

During this time, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded 
to approximately 254 day and night calls for service. 

February 28, 2017 

A resident saw an unknown female prowling on their front 
porch in the 0 block of Auburn Ave. The resident contacted 
the unknown female and the subject said she was at the 
wrong house. The subject then walked to the adjacent house, 
entered the neighbors’ unlocked vehicle that was parked in 
the driveway, and began looking through the vehicle. The 
resident re-contacted the subject and she said she was looking 
for batteries. The resident then called the Police Department 
to report the incident. Officers responded and located the 
subject who was a transient from Santa Monica. The subject 
was arrested for attempt theft.
