Sierra Madre Blvd. Sierra Madre, Ca. 626-355-7135 NEXT REGULAR May 9, 2017 6:30 pm 1630 AM EMERGENCY RADIO & Free on-air publicity for local events Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial. Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. Your event must: • Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity • Be open to the public • Be of general interest to local citizens Just write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com. SIERRA MADRE POLICE BLOTTER During this time period, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 2 59 day and night time calls for service. Monday. April 17 A residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of Santa Anita court at about 9:12 p.m. The unknown suspect(s) forcefully entered the residence by shattering a glass window located in the rear of the residence that leads family room. The home was ransacked expensive jewelry, a wedding band and miscellaneous novelty jewelry was taken. It is unknown at this time what additional property was taken. Case forwarded to Detectives Thursday, April 20 At about 1:23 p.m. officers responded to the police station regarding a report of grand theft. The victim was tricked by a caller to her home into thinking Edison was going to shut their power off and gave money to the suspect(s) through a prepaid card. Case to Detectives Friday 4/21/17 @ 1:13 p.m. Officers were dispatched to 400 block of Auburn regarding a possible residential burglary. SMPD responded and noticed a broken window on the south side of the residence. During the preliminary investigation, officers observed what appeared to be a person in a bed. Due to the nature of the call with possible suspect(s) in the house a call for additional resources was put out. Additional SMPD units along with Arcadia PD, Pasadena PD K-9 and air support responded to this call. Utilizing an abundance of caution, the schools in the area were also alerted and advised to follow their “lock down” procedures. Once officers obtained a key to the house and conducted an interior search and found the bedroom ransacked and that a burglary did occur. Case forwarded to Detectives Sunday, April 23 Officers responded to the 300 block of Camillo St. at about 6:23 p.m. for a suspicious male subject throwing water bottles in a yard. Officers arrived and detained the subject and began a search of the male. Once officers questioned the male subject about providing false identification the subject fled the scene. The male was eventually captured, arrested, and later booked into LASD IRC after being medically cleared at a local hospital.
