During this period, the Sierra Madre Police Department 
responded to approximately 364 day and night 
time calls for service. 

Monday, September 24 
A vehicle was stopped at about 8:07PM for a vehicle 
code violation in the area of Santa Anita Ave. and 
Grandview Ave. Following a field sobriety test, the 
driver was found to be impaired due to alcohol. The 
driver was also driving with a license suspended 
for a previous DUI. The driver was arrested and 
transported to the Pasadena Jail and his vehicle was 
impounded. Case to the DA’s office 

Wednesday, September 26 
Officers responded to a call of a hit and run traffic 
collision at Lima St. and Highland Ave. Officers were 
able to locate the suspect and his vehicle at a different 
location. The man was under the influence of alcohol 
and was subsequently arrested with his vehicle being 
impounded. The subject was arrested and transported 
to the Pasadena Jail. Case to the DA’s office. 

Friday, September 28 
Officers were dispatched to a call of a burglary from 
a vehicle in the 400 block of W. Sierra Madre Bl. 
Unknown suspect(s) smashed the front passenger 
window and took a gym bag and gym clothes from 
the front seat. Case to Detectives 

 3:58PM A theft from an unlocked vehicle was 
reported to have occurred in the rear carport in the 
400 block of W. Sierra Madre Blvd. between Thursday 
September 27, 2018, at about 3:00PM and Friday 
September 28, 2018, at about 7:30AM. 

Sunday, September 30 
At approximately 10:00AM officers responded to 
the 600 block of W. Sierra Madre Bl. for a tampering 
vehicle report. An unknown suspect(s) shattered 
the victim’s driver side passenger window with an 
unknown object. Items taken were approximately 15 
"Trader Joe's" grocery bags from the rear passenger 
seat.

1630 AM EMERGENCY RADIO & 

Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts 
for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. 
PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 
24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens


Just 
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event

HISTORICAL PIONEER 
CEMETERY TOUR

 Join the members of the Sierra Madre Historical 
Preservation Society as they take you to meet some 
of the historical people that are buried in our Pioneer 
Cemetery. You will hear them tell their stories; from 
Founding Fathers such as Carter and Richardson, 
business owners of the Hartman Pharmacy (now Best 
Buy Drugs) and Hotel Shirley, to mountain men and 
writers of children’s books! Men and Women who 
have played an important part in our town’s history 
will meet you at the entrance and even help to serve 
you light refreshments at the end of your tour. Music 
will be provided by the Vin Fiz Flyers

 Guided tours will start at 3:30 and run approximately 
every 20 minutes. The last tour will be at 5:30.p.m. 
Tours have moderate walking through the cemetery 
and are not handicapped accessible.
