EDUCATION HAS NOT STOPPED WITH DISTANCE LEARNING AT
ST. RITA SCHOOL

St. Rita School had a successful start of the 2020-2021 school year with
remote learning!

The first week began with an 8th grade retreat, 1st grade Superhero Day, and Blessing of the Backpacks.
The fun did not stop there as we headed into the second week with our students attending Art Class,
Music Class, Physical Education, and celebrating the first school mass of the year with a magic trick
from Fr. Tom!

Our young Raiders attend full day Zoom classes and have been fully engaged in their courses. The Faculty
& Staff have been creative in making sure our Raiders are receiving the best education possible. Every
detail matters at St. Rita School. When students log on, they see fully decorated classrooms, friendly and
familiar faces, special guest visits from our Pastor, Principal and even from our favorite therapy dog,
Loki. They may have even noticed the safety plexiglass dividers being installed on each of their desks!

St. Rita Raiders get the very best! September 21st is the start of E-Sports League Play where our students
will compete in Fortnite, Just Dance and NBA2K20. While our Sports League is competing, our Drama
Club will partake in their first “acting job” with their Monologue Challenge!

All St. Rita School students were provided with ipads, textbooks, school supplies and art supplies.
Teachers provide office hours Monday-Friday during after school hours for parents and students who
have questions or need additional help.

St. Rita School’s educational program and remote learning is going full speed ahead! Our students are
on track for a successful school year.

MAYFIELD JUNIOR SCHOOL BEGINS THE 2020-21
SCHOOL YEAR ON A HIGH NOTE

(PASADENA, CA) -- Mayfield Junior School began its 89th school year with Morning
Prayer, a meaningful tradition led by the Student Council. Continuing the community-
feel and social-emotional connections MJS is known for, students, faculty, staff, and parents
listened to the sounds of “We Are Family” as each entered the virtual gathering.

Planning for the 2020-21 academic year was a school community-wide effort, including
revamping the daily schedule to best serve Mayfield’s 520 students. Early on, MJS formed
Scenario Planning and Task Forces representing all parts of the school community to
meet a clear goal: to continue to provide Mayfield students with highly-effective, flexible,
and adaptable learning models in a healthy and safe environment. The result was a
multi-faceted approach called Ever Forward, which allows students to thrive remotely or
on-campus depending on the direction given by health and government officials.

Head of School Joe Sciuto recently completed his first year leading the MJS community
and is excited about this year’s opportunity. “Our world is experiencing unique times,
and I am so proud and feel blessed to be part of Mayfield Junior School,” said Sciuto.
“From our Board and Leadership Team to our wonderful teachers and supportive parents,
there has been no stone unturned—all for the benefit of our students.”

Mayfield’s Holy Child education blends innovation and traditional programming centered
on nurturing the development of the whole child. Learn more about Mayfield’s Ever
Forward program at www.mayfieldjs.org/EverForward.
