The Sierra Madre Rose Float Association is pleased 
to announce that Catherine Galanti is the recipient of 
our 2022 SMRFA Scholarship Award. 

This award recognizes one student in either their senior 
year of high school or first year of college who 
has demonstrated academic excellence, service to the 
community, and a dedication to the work of the Sierra 
Madre Rose Float Association. 

Catherine served as a SMRFA float 

rider for the 2022 parade. She has been a contributor 
to both the construction and the deco crew. 

Catherine is a student at Loyola Marymount University 
in Los Angeles, where she is pursuing a degree in 
journalism and communication studies. 

 It is her goal to pursue a career in sports journalism.

CALL TO SIERRA MADRE MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS & FAMILIES:

Our School Site Council is a school governance body that strives to improve student 
achievement through the development, review and approval of the School Plan for Student 
Achievement, oversight of funding for specially funded accounts, dissemination of information 
about school events, and planning of current and future programs. 

School Site Council membership consists of 50% School Staff and 50% parents/community 
members. Members serve a two year term, and elections are held each Fall for any vacant 
seats. 

Currently we have two open seats for parent members, and we will be holding elections at 
the end of this month. If you are interested in serving our school in this capacity, please 
contact Mr. Newsom at newsom.garrett@pusd.us.
