Without volunteers, the events that we look forward each year would never happen, such as the upcoming Art Festival, The Winter Village, The Wistaria Festival and of course, the 4th of July parade. Equally as important are the dedicated city hall staff who go above and beyond the call of duty to serve our community. For years, the City and the Chamber have held separate annual events thanking these outstanding inviduals and/or groups for their service to Sierra Madre. However, since 2017, the City and the Chamber have combined their recognition ceremonies into one event. The Honors Dinner. WILLIAM WHITE Dr. William "Bill" White was a special member of the Sierra Madre community who passed away in October of 2022. Many people know of Dr. White through his 50+ years of local medical practice, but perhaps an even larger number knew him because of his involvement with the community, particularly the Sierra Madre Historical Society and the Mount Wilson Trail Race Committee. Bill could often be found at Lizzie's Trail Inn where he was happy to share his encyclopedic knowledge about the Mt. Wilson Trail and the history of the surrounding mountains. He was just as happy spending time working on the trail and, of course, sharing anecdotes about the trail's history with passing hikers. Bill was a great friend of the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team and is the Team's first honorary member. It would not be unusual for Team members to be working around the Rescue Station and have Bill stop by to swap stories and see how we were doing. Last weekend, the Team was honored to join in the dedication of a trail sign above First Water on an original section of the Mt. Wilson Trail. Our thanks goes out to Bob Spears for coordinating our probationary members to haul the sign to its location, and for installing it. GLENDORA $720,500 3 beds 2 baths 1,179 sf Home.
