The Monrovia Police Department will host this year's Battle of the Badges Blood
Drive on Thursday, January 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Community
Center (119 W Palm Avenue).
There is a dire need for blood and if you are able, we encourage you all to
participate. We would like to beat last year's record of 38 units! Those who donate
blood in the month of January will be automatically be entered to win a trip for
two to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas!
The winner will get to enjoy access to day-of in-stadium pre-game activities,
tickets to the official Super Bowl Experience, round-trip airfare to Las Vegas,
three-night accommodations, plus a $1,000 gift card for expenses!

ARCADIA POLICE BLOTTER
For the period of Sunday, December 31st, through Saturday, January 6th, the Police Department responded
to 796 calls for service of which 89 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of
some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, December 31:
1. At 6:08 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of El Monte Avenue and Las Tunas Drive
regarding a male subject who started a fire at a bus stop bench. Arcadia Fire Fighters arrived to put the
fire out when the subject became uncooperative and verbally aggressive. Officers discovered the subject
had outstanding warrants for his arrest. The 40-year-old male transient was arrested and transported
to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
2. At 11:55 a.m., officers responded to Royal Oaks Liquor Store, 511 North First Avenue,
regarding the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The victim took refuge inside the store after
being robbed in the alley behind In N Out located at 420 North Santa Anita Avenue. The victim was
approached by three male suspects who struck him in the face with an axe and a metal pipe. The
suspects stole the victim’s wallet and cellphone before fleeing the scene in a black sedan.
Monday, January 1:
3. At 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of Baldwin Avenue and Huntington Drive
regarding a suspect vehicle that was involved in the commission of a felony. The driver was contacted
as well as the driver of an associated vehicle nearby. A loaded firearm was discovered in the glove
compartment. The 36-year-old male from Rosemead was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City
Jail for booking.
4. At 3:36 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of The Hilton Garden Inn, 199 North First
Avenue, regarding the report of an unresponsive female inside of a vehicle. Officers determined the
55-year-old woman was deceased. She had been homeless, living in her vehicle.
Tuesday, January 2:
5. At 1:36 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Holly Avenue regarding a
burglary alarm. The resident saw two masked men inside of his house while watching footage from his
security cameras. An investigation revealed the suspects had gained entry by smashing the rear sliding
glass door.
Wednesday, January 3:
6. At 7:24 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue regarding
a burglary report. The victim saw two suspects leaving his residence as he returned home. The suspects
ransacked his bedroom and stole cash and a watch. The victim saw a newer model white four-door
sedan leaving the area.
7. At 11:02 p.m., officers responded to an additional residence in the 1000 block of Fairview
Avenue regarding a burglary report. Pry marks were found on the back door and glass panels and a
window screen had been removed from the kitchen window. Shoe prints were found inside of the home,
but nothing appeared to be missing from the residence.
Thursday, January 4:
8. At 3:24 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 100 block of East Huntington Drive when he
discovered graffiti on the rear wall of More Gain Capitol, 117 East Huntington Drive. The unknown
suspect(s) spray painted graffiti block lettering that was approximately six-feet tall and twenty-five feet
in width. No suspects were located.
Friday, January 5:
9. At 3:00 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of West Huntington Drive
regarding the report of a male subject stealing mail from the community mailbox at the location. The
subject was seen fleeing the scene in a small silver sport utility vehicle at a high rate of speed.
10. At 9:25 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 00 block of Alta Street regarding the
report of a stolen vehicle. The victim left his car parked in front of the location the evening prior. He
returned to his car in the morning to find it had been stolen.
11. At 6:13 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding
the report of a burglary. The unknown suspect(s) entered the home through a bedroom window. The
suspect(s) stole watches and perfume before fleeing the scene.
Saturday, January 6:
12. At 3:13 a.m., officers responded to Santa Anita Cleaners, 1001 North Santa Anita Avenue,
regarding a burglary that had just occurred. An investigation revealed the suspect used a rock to smash
the front glass door of the business. Once inside, the suspect stole cash. The suspect also burglarized
a neighboring business, The Nail Bar, at 1007 North Santa Anita Avenue. A cat statue was stolen. The
suspect was described as male, approximately six feet tall, with a thin build, wearing a light-colored
hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
13. At 5:18 a.m., officers responded to Le Meridien, 130 West Huntington Drive, regarding a
male subject who brandished a knife at a hotel employee. The employee asked the man to leave the
location when he pulled out a knife, held it over his head, and charged towards the employee. Officers
located the 48-year-old male transient near USC Arcadia Medical Center where he was arrested and
transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
14. At 12:53 p.m., officers responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue,
regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. An investigation revealed the suspect parked next to the
victim’s vehicle and smashed the front passenger side window before stealing her purse and fleeing the
scene in a white sport utility vehicle.
POINT IN TIME HOMELESS COUNT
January 9, 2024 – Save the date for the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Point in Time
Homeless Count (PIT Count). The PIT Count is the annual census that counts
our neighbors experiencing unsheltered homelessness. The PIT Count helps
communities plan services and programs to appropriately address local needs,
measure progress in decreasing homelessness, and identify strengths and gaps in
a community’s current homelessness assistance system. Arcadia’s PIT Count will
take place on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, starting at 8pm and will deploy from the
Arcadia Community Center – 365 Campus Drive. For more information and to
