ST. RITA SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE TECH GIANTS IN TRAINING
St. Rita School is fostering a new generation of digital innova-
tors through a comprehensive and dynamic Technology Program
Mr. Marco Lopez

that spans from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 8th
Grade. Immersed in a vast array of cutting-edge and essential
technologies, students prepare themselves for success in the modern
world. The program, designed and led by Mr. Marco Lopez,
provides hands-on experiences across multiple digital domains,
ensuring every student finds an area that sparks their passion. St.
Rita students explore Digital Photography, Newscasting, Podcasting,
Coding, Video Game Design, Typing, Excel, and 3-Dimensional
Design. Mr. Lopez’ students effectively create slideshows
and deliver engaging presentations to their peers.

An important

aspect of this

program is the
educator himself, who provides an environment
where students feel safe to create, ask
questions, and explore! Mr. Lopez has become
a legend amongst the students. He is
a tech wizard, a problem solver, and a true
mentor to our young scholars. Parent Brandi
Manning shares, “Mr. Lopez lets the kids
create their own podcasts on topics they
chose. My daughter was so excited for me
to hear hers at Open House, and I was trulyimpressed by how well-spoken and confident
she was as she explained her subject.
She even added small creative touches that
made it sound surprisingly professional for
a fourth-grade student.”

For students eager to dive deeper into the

visual arts, the teacher currently offers engaging after-school classes such as Cinematography
and Photography. Student photographers capture school sports games, school assemblies,
and special events on campus, to later be posted on our school social media, website, and
yearbook. These experiences allow students to explore advanced techniques in filmmaking,
lighting, and editing, providing an intensive, creative outlet. “My child has fallen in love with
photography thanks to Mr. Lopez. By offering after-school classes, he has given her the opportunity
to explore the subject more deeply, and she has truly flourished in her skills behind
the camera.”

Internet Safety is also a crucial part of the program. Students are taught about digital citizenship,
online etiquette, privacy, and how to navigate the internet responsibly and securely,
ensuring they become knowledgeable and ethical users of technology.

By providing such a broad and deep technology education, St. Rita School is not just teaching
software capabilities within a particular discipline; they are teaching critical thinking, problem-
solving, collaboration, and creativity. From the youngest learners in TK to their graduating
8th graders, every student leaves their program trained to be responsible online citizens
and experienced with the digital fluency needed to thrive in high school and beyond.
