AIDA TORRES – 4TH ANNUAL 
COMMUNITY ANGEL 


Aida Torres is the recipient of the Duarte Kiwanis Club’s 4th Annual Community Angel Award. 
For more than two decades Aida served as Crime Prevention Specialist for the City of Duarte. In 
this role she became a trusted advocate for young people, families and residents throughout the 
community. Her work extended far beyond traditional crime prevention efforts and the results of 
those efforts has been a 90% drop in youth arrests in the City. Pictured are many of the graduates 
of Aida’s programs (including one of Duarte’s City Council Members) along with partners from the 
LA County Sheriff ’s Department.

Applications are now open for the 2026 Duarte Route 66 Parade, taking place 
on Saturday, September 26! 

Community groups, schools, businesses, classic car clubs, and local 
organizations are invited to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Historic 
Route 66 and be part of one of Duarte's most cherished traditions. 

Parade applications and sponsorship forms are due by Saturday, September 5.
