GALA TO BE HELD ON OCTOBER 3RD

Pasadena, CA – The Black 
Tie & Burgers gala benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena will take place on the evening 
of Saturday, October 3rd at the historic Raymond Theatre, a Pasadena landmark since 1921. 
This year’s theme, “Black Tie & Burgers: The Musical” will celebrate the journey of childhood 
through live musical performances. The night will feature Broadway-inspired performances 
by a professional singer and Club kids showcasing their talents. Guests will enjoy burger meals 
and desserts from Pasadena’s own Pie ‘n’ Burger, inspiring stories from local youth, curated 
wines and cocktails, and dancing. 

The 18th annual event is the Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year and will also include exciting 
auctions and other fundraising opportunities to benefit youth programs focused on academic 
success, health and wellness, character and leadership development, and life and workforce 
readiness. The black tie-optional event also features a popular “Wine Wagon” raffle of two 
cases of premium wines from around the world. 

The Raymond Theatre has hosted countless performances, events, and concerts over the past 
century. With its classic architecture, rich history, and limited public access, the Raymond 
Theatre will provide a unique and exceptional setting to celebrate local youth. The Club 
promises a night to remember, with classic hits spanning the decades from Grease to Rent. 

“We are excited to host a night of Broadway-inspired fun celebrating Pasadena-area kids. The 
Raymond Theatre will be a beautiful setting for us to gather our friends and supporters, enjoy 
great food and wines, and witness powerful musical performances. And of course, we hope 
to raise more funds than ever for our after-school and summer youth programs,” said Melina 
Montoya, who serves as the Club’s Black Tie & Burgers Event Chair.

YOUTH AND ADULT LEADERSHIP 
ACADEMIES RETURN THIS FALL! 

Want to learn more about Monrovia, strengthen your leadership skills, and make a positive 
impact in your community? Then the Adult and Youth Leadership Academies are for 
you! The Monrovia Area Partnership (MAP) Program invites community members to 
participate in our 2026 Leadership Academies, a fun and interactive seven-week program 
designed to build informed, engaged, and effective community leaders. 

Adult Leadership Academy participants will connect with City leaders and staff while 
exploring topics including civic engagement, strategic leadership, Monrovia history, 
historic preservation, community resources, and turning ideas into action. The Adult 
Leadership Academy will be held Thursday evenings, September 17 through October 29, 
from 7 to 9 p.m. at various City facilities. 

Youth Leadership Academy participants will build skills and confidence while exploring 
topics including leadership development, financial literacy, local government education, 
public speaking, resume building, and more. The Youth Leadership Academy is open to 
students in grades 6 to 12 and will be held Wednesday afternoons, September 16 through 
October 28, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Youth are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, 
grow as individuals, and learn how to make a lasting impact in their communities.
