WALKING SIERRA MADRE: The Social Side by Deanne Davis
Here they come, walking down the street,
They get the funniest looks fromEveryone they meet!
Hey! Hey! It’s the zombies!
These guys really get around,
You just better keep a look out,
They might come to our town!
Yes, friends and neighbors, I’ve got Halloween fever and there will
be so much going on around town to keep it going! The ScarecrowFestival is well underway and I’m sure you’ve already got yoursplanned and possibly even up in your neighborhood doing a goodjob frightening people.
The picture this week, obviously, another scarecrow!
Window painting takes place on October 23rd and 24th with awards
at noon on the 24th in Kersting Court.
The Hometown Halloween Festival in Memorial Park with a
pumpkin patch, trunk or treat, food, and a spook zone, all from10 am to 2 pm will get your Halloween going…then, when nightfalls and something spooky is behind every tree, take a walk downAlegria and see what awesome sights will be on display. Pumpkinsof every size, shape and grotesque carved face, guaranteed to scareyou. So much fun!
With vampires, monsters and witches galore,
Lurking behind every closed door,
As you knock, beware the host,
Will they be friendly, or a ghoul or ghost?
Will they bear treats of candy and toys?
Or will they pounce on little girls and boys!
The pumpkins and lights show they’re happy to play,
Or are they a trick to attract their prey?
Knock carefully, dear children, and be ready to runShould a hobgoblin answer, looking for fun.
Just how fast can your little legs go?
Can they outrun a werewolf, should one open the door?
Beware the black cat, should he make himself known,
For near this house, he is ready to roam.
Happy Halloween to all who may knock,
From all the creatures watching ‘round the clock.
Be out after midnight, only if you dare,
When monsters and vampires look for children to share!
Those pumpkins who all look so friendly and sweet,
Take on a new look when the clock’s midnight’s complete.
The pumpkins leering with devilish grins,

Most of these terrifying verses are anonymously written, I can’t takeall the credit. But here and there a verse is mine and it’s so much fun
to share. Have you gotten your candy yet? We will be hitting Costconext week to stagger out with ours so we are ready when the ghoulsand goblins appear at our door.
