16TH CONCERT IN THE PARK

Advisory for areas including the San Gabriel Valley it is importantto remind residents of tips to stay cool and safe.

• Slow down, avoid strenuous activity. Do not try to do too
much on a hot day.
• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
Light colors will reflect heat and
sunlight and help maintain normal body temperature.
• Protect your face with a wide-brimmed hat.
• Drink plenty of water regularly and often, even if you do
not feel thirsty.
• Stay hydrated.
• Stay indoors as much as possible. If you do not have air
conditioning, stay on your lowest
floor, out of the sun or go to a place where you canget relief from the heat, such as air
conditioned, library, theaters and other community facilitiesthat may offer refuge during

the warmest times of the day.

• Electric fans do not cool the air, but they do help evaporate
perspiration, which cools your
body.

• Cover windows that receive morning or afternoon sunwith drapes, shades, awnings or
louvers. Outdoor awnings or louvers can reduce the heat
that enters a home by up to 80
percent.

• Check on family, friends and neighbors.
If you believe you, or anyone you are with, is experiencing a heat-
related medical emergency, promptly call 911, and if possible,
move to a cooler place.

The July 19th Concert in the Park
featuring “Sgt. Pepper – A Beatles
Tribute” was cancelled due to rain.
The band has graciously agreed to
come together and get back on stage
for a make-up show on Sunday,
August 16th, which will extend the
Concert in the Park season. The Senior
Community Commission and the Los
Angeles County Arts Commission
are proud to sponsor this additional
evening of rock and roll music before
the end of the season because it won’t
be long until the children are back in
school.

The concert will begin at 6:00pm
and conclude at 8:00pm. The Senior
Community Commission will be
providing free popsicles. Bring your
blankets and lawn chairs, which are
allowed to be set out the night before
or any time at all on Sunday. Enjoy
the music and the watch the kids
“twist and shout” in front of the stage.
It will surely be another wonderful
performance and something to
remember to help us all close out
another wonderful season of Summer
Concerts in the Park.
