ARCADIA POLICE BLOTTER

OPENING DAY AT 

ARCADIA HIGH SCHOOL

For the period of Sunday, August 16th, through Saturday, August 
22nd, the Police Department responded to 1,067 calls for service of 
which 117 required formal investigations. The following is a summary 
report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this 
period. 

Sunday, August 16: 

1. Just before 12:56 a.m., an officer responded to the front counter of 
the Arcadia Police Department regarding a theft report. After having 
his vehicle valet parked at the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South 
Baldwin Avenue, the victim noticed his bag containing $5,900 in 
cash had gone missing from his vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. 

2. At approximately 7:15 p.m., an officer responded to the American 
Legion, 615 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a battery report. The 
suspect, a 33-year-old female from Banning, suspected her husband 
of cheating on her and a physical altercation ensued. The victim 
sustained multiple injuries to his face, neck, and arm. Arcadia Fire 
responded to provide medical attention. The suspect was arrested 
and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Monday, August 17: 

3. At about 3:43 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a 
vehicle in the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Santa Clara Street for 
not having their headlights turned on. The officer noticed the driver 
appeared to be asleep. During a welfare check of the driver and vehicle, 
the officer located an open container of alcohol, methamphetamine, 
Hydrocodone, and drug paraphernalia. The 43-year-old male from 
Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for 
booking. 

 

4. At approximately 8:17 a.m., an officer responded to Dana Middle 
School, 1401 South First Street, regarding a suspicious fire that had 
been extinguished. The reporting party located a burn mark and 
portions of a gun cleaning kit on the patio tables. No suspects were 
seen and no witnesses were located. 

Tuesday, August 18: 

5. Around 8:37 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle 
in the area of South Baldwin Avenue and the 210 Freeway for using 
a cellphone while driving. Upon contacting the driver, the officer 
discovered the 28-year-old female from Rosamond was driving 
with a suspended license. She was cited and released in the field. The 
vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 

6. Just after 6:52 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 
block of North Altura Road regarding a theft from vehicle report. 
An investigation revealed an unknown suspect stole emergency 
preparedness equipment from the trunk of his vehicle and disposed 
of some, if not all of the items, on a neighbor’s lawn. No suspects were 
seen and no witnesses were located. 

Wednesday, August 19: 

7. Shortly after 9:01 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 
500 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle report. The 
officer determined an unknown suspect stole the victim’s Honda 
Accord sometime during the previous evening. No suspects were 
seen and no witnesses were located. 

8. At about 9:24 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom at the 
Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a 
robbery that had just occurred. The officer discovered the suspect 
pistol whipped the victim, stole her purse, and fled in an awaiting 
silver SUV. 

The suspect is described as a black or Hispanic male, approximately 
6’3”, with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and 
dark colored baggy shorts. The investigation is ongoing. 

Thursday, August 20: 

9. At approximately 8:05 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement 
stop on a vehicle in the area of Roseglen Avenue and Lower Azusa 
Road for making an illegal turn. Upon contacting the driver, the 
officer discovered the 37-year-old female from Baldwin Park was 
driving without a license, her registration was expired, and she did 
not have proof of insurance. She was cited and released in the field. 
Her vehicle was left legally parked. 

10. Around 6:53 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Live 
Oak Avenue and Second Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision. 
The officer determined Party-1 caused the accident by turning 
left into oncoming traffic and colliding with Party-2. Party-1 was 
transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical treatment. 

Friday, August 21: 

11. At about 10:20 a.m., an officer responded to the Hampton Inn, 
311 East Huntington Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. 
Surveillance footage revealed the male suspect removed two vent 
motors from the roof, then entered a vacant room, and stole various 
electronic cords and remotes. The investigation is ongoing. 

12. Just after 9:56 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s at the Westfield 
Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theft 
report. Loss prevention specialists witnessed the 36-year-old female 
from Los Angeles conceal numerous items of merchandise before 
exiting the store, failing to make payment. She was cited and released 
in the field. 

Saturday, August 22: 

13. Just after 11:52 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle 
in the area of Huntington Drive and Gate 3 of the Santa Anita Race 
Track for having expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, 
the officer discovered the 19-year-old male from Duarte was driving 
with a suspended license. He was cited and released in the field. The 
vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 

14. At approximately 9:39 p.m., an officer responded to a residence 
in the 1800 block of Highland Oaks Drive regarding a burglary 
report. An investigation revealed the victim’s jewelry went missing 
after hosting an open house. A suspicious subject visited the location 
during the open house. He is described as a white or Italian male, 
40 to 45-yearsold, around 5’6” tall, approximately 160 pounds, with 
black hair, and brown eyes. He was seen driving a charcoal gray SUV.

ADVISORY: UPDATE WITH 
SUSPECT SKETCH - TWO 
BATTERY INCIDENTS NEAR 
ARCADIA SCHOOLS

On August 25, 2015, the 
Arcadia Police Department 
received two reports of a 
battery that occurred in the 
vicinity of two local school 
campuses. The first incident 
occurred on First Avenue, at 
approximately 8:55 a.m., near 
Dana Middle School, located 
at 1401 S. First Avenue. 
The second incident was 
reported to have occurred at 
approximately 11:00 a.m. in 
the west parking lot of the 
Arcadia High School located 
at 180 Campus Drive.

 Each victim reported a 
male suspect came up from 
behind as they were either 
approaching or walking away from their vehicle and placed them in 
a “bear hug” without saying a word. While being held, the victims felt 
several pelvic thrusts from behind before being released. The suspect 
then ran away from the location. The incidents appear to have been 
committed by the same lone suspect based on the descriptions 
provided by the two victims.

 The victims were adult females and they did not suffer any injuries. 
The suspect was described as a male of Asian descent, 16 – 20 years 
old, black hair, clean-shaven, 5’07” tall and “chubby.” He was wearing 
a black hooded sweatshirt with tan shorts.

 The case is currently under investigation. Anyone with

Taste of Arcadia 2015 will offer the best line-up of food, wine and 
beer vendors ever on September 28 at the Los Angeles County 
Arboretum. 

 New entries among the 40 vendors include popular PizzaRev: 
Craft-Your-Own-Pizzas, which will bring fresh flame-fired pizzas 
from their stone-bed ovens to Taste of Arcadia every 30-minutes!

 And more tastes wine and beer than ever before will include the 
addition of the first winery vendor at Taste of Arcadia, Navarro 
Vineyards.

 Advance tickets $65 ($55 for Arcadia Chamber of Commerce 
members; $80 at gate; or VIP reserved table of 10 for $750 – Chamber 
members $599) under “Shop” at www.ArcadiaCaChamber.org, by 
calling 626-447-2159, or in person at the Chamber office at 388 W. 
Huntington Drive, Arcadia, 91007.

 About 1,500 people are expected to attend what City 
officials refer to as the “signature event of Arcadia.” From 5:30 
p.m. – 9 p.m. on a Monday evening attendees enjoy tastes of 
everything for no additional charge, plus live music from three 
performers, the most exciting new cars from local dealers 
including Tesla, and 40 community organization and business 
booths. There will also be valet parking this year for only $7.50.
This year’s returning Gold sponsors are Westfield Santa Anita, 
Methodist Hospital of Southern California, and BMW of Monrovia. 

Other wine/beer vendors include: Angelini Trading Company/
Benevento Wine,
